Low Framerates?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 6:38 am

Hello,
I have been a fan of the Crysis series since 2009 and I have all of the games. I have a Nvidia GeForce 325m 1GB graphics card that can play the original Crysis on custom settings (equal to about medium) at about 35-40 FPS. I bought Crysis 2 after being told it had a much lower graphics requirement but when I play on the lowest quality settings, i only get just over 20 FPS! How can I fix it? I've tried running in Tuneup 2011 turbo mode, clearing unnecessary processes etc. I have 4 GB of ram, 2x i5 430. In some points of the game, i can count the FPS with my eyes!

I don't think its my graphics card because I can run a lot of games on it better than it should according to the reviews (http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeForce-GT-325M.24062.0.html says I can rum MW2 at 26 FPS but I run it at almost 40)

What do i need to do to get higher frame rates?
Thanks.

My gtx 580 took a beating if not overclocked, at least it did before the latest nvidia driver update, it'll probably be better now but all the same, the GPU was 99%.
That was on the highest setting, i thought it looked pretty good and then found out it was dx9, what a bummer, looking forwards to returning to it when it's more polished.

I'm running it on a 4870 and a single core pentium 4... He's got a chance.

Try using the advanced graphics tweaker. There are 3 settings (called something like FOV) that are set to 55 by default. Turn everything else as low as possible or off etc. and set the FOV value to 50. That dramatically increased frame rates for me.

I play on notebook intel i5 480m 4 gigs of ram and ati 5650 so i have no chance to run it smooth fps in 1366 768 so i play of course in 1280 720 because its full screen to 16:9. I use advanced graphics options 1.7 for crysis 2 i use everything lowest i use shadows but i disabled SSAO it given a bit more fps and i use object blur radial blur and all effects exept SSAO so in hd resolution it run single player smoothly but in 1366 768 it laggs. In multiplayer hd resolution laggs so i play on minimum res(still epic game after all botters are gone) so at least in 5650 you can play somehow.

But probles is that you have 325m and its not best card in world it worse that 5650 so try crysis 2 advanced graphicks options tool and try disabling stuff and lowering options.

(PS. why cry engine does not have so low options that even low end pcs can run it smoothly something like crysis 1 low - medium options cry lowest options are for a bit lower than crysis 1 high=( it makes us playing hard on laptops.

The Mobile-Editions of all GPU's (ATi Mobility Radeon, NVidia ...m or Intel integrated graphics) are mostly not supported.
I don't know the reason why, but you can see that information on the backside of every game-packaging.

This might be the reason for the low FPS.

So even though it has a lower requirement than the original, my card is not supported and i get lower FPS? I will try the graphics tweaker though.

Thanks.

Thanks heaps, I am now getting about 35 FPS because of this! At least i'll be able to be competitive in multiplayer now!

This only works for singleplayer for some reason, will there be a fix?

probably there will be a fix in the future, but crysis 2 doesn't even run as good as it should on desktops yet. the reason you can run the first crysis games okay is the drivers have been worked on alot, but crysis 2 has got really no driver support really yet, they are probably just waiting for dx11 at this point to get it going.

There were various CVARS in the game which were ON by default like some Anti-Aliasing and so forth, but with the 1.4 patch mostly all of them are locked.
