Okay, so I just upgraded to Windows 7 from XP. When I upgraded, I made sure to back up all my saves from my Documents folder, and then moved them back into position when the upgrade was complete. Now the game won't recognize that I have a profile, or any of the saves. Is there a way to force recognition?

I didnt change windows version but after the 1.4 patch my 'default' profile is no longer available. I finished the game with default profile, but now it acts as if I have never played it. Can't resume game or anything and game only shows the profile I made with 0 Minutes played. So it may not be related to your upgrade.
