Crysis 2 necessary spec?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 2:12 am

I'm under no illusion that I have the best PC going, because clearly I know that's not true before anyone tries to tell me otherwise.

The problem I'm having is understanding what the game is demanding from me. Here's a screen shot of my system spec and the desired system spec according to "Can You Run It?".

Anyone want to break this down? I've tried playing the game but the fact that it's so ridiculously slow to move around is something that's stopping me. I get that it's more than likely my graphics card, but anyone care to explain it to me?

Is it as simple as I don't have the right card? Cause when I do the test for portal 2 (which runs perfectly) it says something similar.

Thanks.

Quick reply, when i play on extreme it uses about 900mb of vram and usually about 90% average GPU usage, i got me a 580, i5 760(4.1), and 8gb ram, it does take quite a bit of power for the extreme setting for sure.
If you're gonna get another card(i'd advise it), go for a 5 series nvidia, with the new drivers they go even faster nowadays.
No i'm not a nvidia fan-boy, read the threads here amd has too many problems, even if they are cheaper.
A new card is needed my friend.

Dude you need a 3D card - the Intel onboard you have is not even close to cutting it. Those things are for office use not games. Looking at your CPU spec you'll need to check that you have a slot to put the card in. A lot of i3 wont have the right PCI Express x16 slot. Power supply could potentially be an isue.

I knew Crysis was a demanding game but I clear underestimated it, no doubt. A little off topic but considering how you're the only person replying right now, what would that setup be good for playing?

I've seen other videos where games like mw2 and alike are being played fine.

I found it in this thread, http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=25140&p=275351&hilit=Nvidia+Geforce+315#p275351

Saying it's supported.

I think you'll find as long as the game runs like a slide show its classed as supported lol

I only buy AMD so dont no much about Nvidia, if you wait till later all the americans will be on and can answer your questions (15:45 here, means the morning there)

Yeah, I've never really been into PC games before. I've been more console based but I'm making a kinda switch and I know I'll probably get bashed for being all noob-like with my lack of knowledge about all things PC, but still.

I've been doing a little research and the before mentioned setup with the geforce 315 isn't that bad according to what I've found at least. Just clearly not as good as this game in specific needs!

Thanks for your patience anyway.
