Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 10:53 am

Just want to share with you my personal hit list of shooters i enjoyed last few years and se what other ppl like to play
Doom 3 - good linear shooter for the years it was released. completed twice
Half Life 2 - frankly i still think this linear shooter has the best story line and atmospheric gameplay of all FPS i ever played. completed 3 times
FarCry - unfortunately i played this game just 2 years ago. didn't find anything exclusive and attractive in this game except VERY hard to survive on the highest difficulty lvl. i should admit this game was the most difficult one i played since Doom2
Half Life 2 episodes - the same sh1t with original Half Life 2. the best gameplay ever. completed twice
STALKER - very good atmospheric gameplay. non-linear that is huge plus. completed once
CoD:MW - new example howshould linear shooter look like. awesome action gameplay, good storyline
BFBC2 - moderate gameplay. i would say, this game is in my hit-list only becouse SP is just a little better then normal (but MP is the best =P). completed once
MW2 - god of modern linear shooter IMHO. that's the way linear shooters should be made. completed 3 times. plan to complete once more
Metro 2033 - just good atmospheric linear shooter. completed once
Crysis 2 - poor console port. gameplay a little better then BF:BC2. completed once
Crysis and Crysis Warhead - bought 4 disks (2 on native russian, 2 on original english). Completed a little more then 10 times. no more comments needed
Crysis 3 - ?

Ive heard there making a sequel to Prey, cant wait for that
Multi-players pretty rubbish on all them except Quake 4 (havent played Bulletstorm online yet) but all have good single player and coop in SSHD is good

Yo man MW2 was fun as hell, although equally frustrating. Quite a lot of imba stuff, but insanely good mechanics.

What I really miss from that game is the amazing hit detection, sure it goes wrong sometimes, but compared to this game and ESPECIALLY BLACK OPS PC (worst detection I've ever seen), it's godly.
MW2 has the best hit detection I've ever seen. No matter how laggy it is, your shots still register. They also executed this so perfectly that there's rarely any cases of over generous hit detection. You could say that their hit detection system was almost 100% spot on.

I'm going to say that even MW2's melee hit detection is good. Don't start calling me crazy yet, let me explain.
The range of their melee was absolutely retarded, especially with the Commando perk, but at least you can't hit someone with a melee without even facing them (unless there's lag).
This game's totally different. Let's say you have 20 ping, and your opponent has 20 ping. You can melee him with your back facing him, and he can do the same. That's just... Retarded. It's obviously not an issue of lag when it happens between 2 LOW PING players, it's the game's crappy hit detection mechanics.
If they merged MW2's melee hit detection with this game (minus the range of course), you'd see a lot less bull5h1t moments. Of course, those who spray by spinning 360 degrees are going to cry, but no one should ever be rewarded for just spinning and spamming 1 single button.

Ahh good old MW2 days.. If all the FPS games from now on had kind of perfect hit detection, we'd be much happier gamers. Too bad it's not going to happen.. A majority of FPS games out there has terrible hit detection. Guess I can only dream.
