8 core support seems kind of underpowered when that is going to max out the CryEngine's capabilities even just later this year when the octo-core lineup starts rolling out from processing companies.

If Crytek truly wanted to future proof the engine in case a new console release is still far off, they should have designed it to support up to 12 cores.
Even the "future proof" CryEngine 2 only uses four of my six cores and barely puts a load on them.
Its not future proofing when you don't include support like that, its just bad coding.
