What does the name CRYSIS mean or suggest?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 6:06 am

After playing the first Crysis and Warhead, it was easy to understand why the game was called "Crysis" due to the fact that it was a crisis where the aliens were cryophilic and used freeze rays and shot ice.

Crysis 2's aliens have "evolved" or something like that and shows no cryophilic characteristics. So it still is a crisis, but not a CRYsis.(Unless the game just pisses you off so much that it makes you CRY...which can actually make more sense)

So which is it? Cryophilic crisis or Cry-baby crisis?

The world does not revolve around you, there are other people that are interested if you aren't. Why read and post in my threads if you think I'm so pointless? Grow up.

Why was Far Cry called Far Cry?

Why was Bioshock called Bioshock?

Why was Half Life called Half Life?

Why was Flight Simulator called Flight Simulator?

Oh wait, forget the last one

I can merely understand Bioshock and Half Life's naming, but never played Far Cry so no clue about that one. Crysis 1's naming made sense though, but Crysis 2, not so much, all there is to explain its name is the nanosuit and Crytek.

Me posting here even if i think that your thread is pointless doesn't have anything to do with growing up, as any human being leaving in democratic world i do have right to speak freely where i want.

Anyway, Crysis doesn't mean anything, they just use first part of their company name (Crytek) as an type of signature in all their products like Far Cry, Crysis, Cryengine. This is freaking obvious, thats why i call your thread pointless.

If you really want to ask good question, ask them why company is called "Crytek", and what story is behind that name.

Lol, you are totally overthinking the title.

Short version: It's called Crysis just because....

Long version: It's called Crysis because first off, the game series is about an alien invasion thus it is a "crisis." But see Crytek loves to use the word "cry" so they spelled "crisis" as "crysis" instead. Think of it as a logo or mark of some sort, indicating that the "cry-" part of "crysis" shows that it's Cryteks work.

Ok i see u people arguing... first things first its called CRYsis instead of crisis because theres CRYtek in companys name who made crysis... but the reason why its called crysis its because lots of **** is going on and flying around and ur always in some crisis... Same as in crysis 2, some **** isgoing on u need to watch shoot etc. The reason why its called CRYtek is because well their engine made u cry because even if u had 3k euros PC at that time u couldnt had ran it so people were like wtf why cant i run this game at max settings 60 fps with my 3k euros rig =(. Theres the whole theory about Crytek, Crysis 1 & Crysis 2 and Cryengine.

Ok.

Why did they name themselves CRYtek?

@TheMob
You are asking that me, community or Crytek? And don't highlight "cry" in their name since "cry" was pulled out of their company name after they created it, and used as an type of signature.

Its because crytek has always had "cry" in the names of their games, Far CRY, CRYsis, CRYsis warhead, and CRYsis 2 is the sequel to crysis so its obviously called crysis 2
