CPU, hjelps :(

I really need your help regarding my CPU. I currently have got a Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 @ 2,93 Ghz, and want to buy a AMD Athlon II X4 640 @ 3GhZ. Now, I fear that I have to buy a new Mainboard as well. Currently, I have an ASRock G31M-GS R2.0, and don't know, wuch one I should buy. I'm very low at money right now, and don't want to spend more then 200€. Regarding that the new CPU costs around 90€, the new mainboard should be less expensive as the CPU, if I need a new one.

Thanks,

Namelss

Yeah you need to buy a different motherboard. It's a different brand and completely different architecture. I would expect the motherboard to cost around $100 for anything decent. I guess you could go cheaper but I wouldn't.

I don't know AMD that well, I don't have a specific recommendation for that type of CPU.

I recommend waiting for more money before buying so that you'll be getting something that won't be somewhat obsolete by next year.

Can you recommend me something special, so I can know, what to save money for?

If you plan on any overclocking get the 890FX Northbridge motherboards, I believe they start at around $130.

If you arent overclocking then something lower like the 880G or 890GX is ok. AMD has very good prices on motherboards. :)
