Foot Stomp perk for multiplay - Can I have some tips for it?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 5:39 am

I have yet to get a kill using the foot stomp perk in multiplay. I realize that the foot stomp perk probably increases in effectiveness as you achieve level 2 or 3. But how can you achieve a level 2 or 3 foot stomp perk if level 1 is so weak?

Maybe I am not doing it right? I don't have a problem using any other perk. Could someone give me some useful tips on using foot stomp perk in multiplay?

Note that I am not new to this game either. I'm currently Multiplayer skill level 27 and have skilled up many of my perks until they reached level 3. However I like to try all the different perks to see how they feel. I realize too that starting with a new perk at level one means that I will likely die a few more times until I get the perk levelled up. I don't mind that but right now I am having a hard time with the foot stomp perk. I can't seem to get one kill. I've jumped near the enemy I don't know how many times and nothing seems to happen except that they kill me after my landing animation finishes. Please help?

You need to be jumping from a high altitude to begin with. If you jump from flat ground and then do an Air Stomp, you won't get the kill. You need to like, jump from a building and THEN do an air stomp and then you'll start racking kills.

Level 1 is weak to begin with, you're right, so try to stay on the top of a building first. Take a COUPLE shots at an enemy below you, a COUPLE, not enough to kill, and then do your Air Stomp. It should work.

What's your user name in Crysis 2? I can add you and you can play around with it on my server.

You pretty much have to land RIGHT on top of the guy(s) you are trying to kill with air stomp. It requires a bit of prediction as to where your targets will be when you land so you have to jump a bit in front of them.

If you want to level it, it's best to use it in Crashsite, Pier 17. Sometimes the pod lands near the house and then you just jump down from the house and you have the right hight to kill. And because of the pod, the enemies will almost stand still, collecting points. So you just jump off the hous and use air stomp.

It's not just that house, all the maps contain high locations which you could use. Gonna give you a few examples:

Wallstreet - the left construction side of the building and you jump near the pod which lands in the middle of the alley. Or the bunkers near the bus - get on the rooftop of the one closest to the bus. The bridge connectiong the 2 buildings you could jump from there if the pod is down below near the truck.

Sanctuary - again there's a destroyed floor of a building and crashed pod on the left side.

etc.

Never use it if you're facing an opponent on the same attitude, always look where the enemies are before you jump (even if they are cloaked they are easy to see around the crashed pod) and activate armour mode when jumping for more damage.

And one more thing, the level of your air-stomp perk does NOT increase its damage:

I. normal stomp;
II. you are not getting damaged by landing from high locations.
III. Faster recovery after a stomp.

Air Stomp deals between 40 and 220 damage in a range between 2 to 7 meters based on how high you stomped from. The reason you might have been 'missing' so much might be because you've been dealing the minimum amount of damage with the smallest blast radius, it would also explain why it seems like you have to hit them dead-on for you to do anything.

Also note that every player has 120 max health, 40 damage is only a third of their health un-armoured, the only way you could pull a kill is to shoot up your target up near to death before you do a min-damage stomp. Heights are your friend as seven meters is about the size of a crash site radius.

Air stomp is awesome but can be frustrating as well if you don practice it...
If you dont execute it perfect...you are a siting duck and its like:

"BOOM" (air stomp fx sound)

"Hi all, i'm right here and cant move for a while... so just pawn me..."

The higher you fall the bigest the damage, but also the hardest it is to aim-calculate landing on your target.

So overall...you need to practice it a lot to understand WHERE you are stomping and WHEN...
depending on the height you are starting it.

P.S.
Best kill than shooting an immobile air stomper that just landed is to Stealth Kill him....
