Will the game utilize hardware tessellation?

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 10:52 pm

Yeah nothing to add to the title really. Though about a wise crack to pad it out, decided against that.

Does it use hardware tessellation? Nvidia seem to think so, but is there an official word on this from Crytek?

Well if nvidia think so, that's probably because it is.

It would make sense.

yeah but they only "seem" to think so. They imply it but do not expressly state it to be the case.

Unknown. In fact, I have never heard/read Crytek talk about DirectX 11 in Crysis 2?

well the leaked beta does have some options that are dx11 and can be forced. Although it's by no means the complete list and tessellation isn't one of them.

LOLZ If there was no DX11 that would be bad. Just when we need to be moving beyond console.

I hope so, I think tessellation is an awesome technology.

So often you get close to something in a FPS game and it just looks fail close up. Infact most of the time stuff looks like that from 10 feet away.

Hardware tessellation is the future that is for sure and crytek always wants to push graphics techonlogy .Tell me a game from 2007 that had so many graphic features as crysis 1 did

I sure hope it does. It will give PC gamers something to be proud of in a time of bad console ports and poor optimizations.
A metaphorical, DirectX 11-triumph that will burn though the generic haze of poorly ported, DX 9 console titles.

Well I played the leak "Demo" just to test out water physics. Oh yea there is basically none when you walk through it. The only water "Physics" thats there is when you shoot the water, you get a quick generic water simulation. I just hope that in dx11 mode this will not be the case :(

some says that the leak is dx9 and medium settings... in crysis 1 the medium setting wasn't spectacular either in terms of physics

dx9... the gpu that consoles have are based from ati or nvidia gpu's that doesn't support dx10 or 11

It's handled more on the engine side of things I suppose right? I'm just so glad we console players will get the same, awesome experience PC gamers have had since '07 with the first Crysis!
