question about cloak tech

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 7:17 am

So the intro for the new game kind of shows how the different modes of the suit actually work and it seems the cloak works by creating tiny little crystals to reflect light or record whats behind you and display it in the front or something...

my question is how does this help you cloak your gun? Do you think the suit would spread these little crystals to the gun?

Not this again :D

It's just a game - you think up the explanation that works best for you.

it probably will if you check the gameplay trailer part one you can see the crystals on the shotgun when he cloaks

The crystal idea is the closest to reality for such cloaking tech (that'd work well). The current experiments (at my department no less) involve quite large crystals though (so much so that it's like cloaking a tank with a aircraft carrier in terms of relative size)!

As for the gun? It's a game.

Well Pears I am afraid thats why it's called "science fiction" and not just "science".

Hope this helps.

thanks for the replies everyone. Jac, you're a d-bag. If you don't care about this game then why bother with this forum?

the science fiction of the past has very much turned into the science of today. Things from star trek and star wars are becoming more and more possible.

I was just trying to talk about a game i'm stoked for.

Cool and when it does turn into science fact you can google it!

.

I did try and make my post light-hearted by including a smiley but if you're that way inclined - learn about the concept of 'suspension of disbelief', oh and FU ;D

Yeah, this concept of tiny camera's has been around for a while. The other way is to use strong fields to bend light around you.

NOOP DIS ISNT AVP

But seriously, if the suit is able to instantly grow crystals like that it should be able to spread out over the weapon as well.

If the gun isn't cloaked in-game, it will be a levitating gun <- enemies can detect you.

I personally think that each of those nanites (the things that form scales in the armor activation video in the showroom) are what move into a certain formation to either trap as much light as possible or they bend light using some sort of word that ends in "ton" or "tron"
As for the guns, my theory is that the gloves of the suit emit this special field inwhich the suit can recognize the weapon from an on-board database and shape the field around it perfectly (so there's isn't a cloaked orb) or the gloves send out the nanites to cover the weapon then trap or bend the light. I think that's a pretty decent theory for a grade 9 XD
Hope this helps pears ;D

Just pickup a weapon when cloaked in crysis 1, the dropped weapon will slowly uncloak, so nanites are transfered to the guns with the gloves, the same thing apply with carried weapon, how dumb would look a holstered pistol floating ^^ ;)
