Indeed, a PC version is a PC version, steam or not.

I thought it wasn't coming to Steam for a while so I reluctantly preordered it on EA yesterday. Naturally it's available on Steam today since I just bought it yesterday. Well I contacted EA and got the order cancelled (pretty easily I must say). Steam is also offering the same Limited Edition offer so I ordered it from Steam. I knew this was going to happen me.

Surprised if it runs. Not due to price but sure I read somewhere they don't run. Happened upon a web page and some guy saying Dirt 2 didn't run that he bought from China or somewhere and then explaining why Asian games don't run in USA or Europe.

Game costs US$10 more for Australia than the US and is released on Steam 2 days later than the retail release.

Very poor form and I am ashamed to be thinking of preordering this on Steam (seeing as the retail version will most likely have an activation limit which is an instant no-buy from me).

Come on now champ.
If you really want from steam for under 70, then get a proxy setup. If you want the game from under 70 from anywhere, then go to a local store or a online store. Don't blame steam.

Why is it very poor form? Why should you be ashamed to be buying on steam? bit silly... It might have DRM, but who cares... cant think of a DECENT AA title that doesn't have DRM these days. You dont even need to be signed in to play single player WOO!

It runs only Is India.EA produces the discs right in India,so the price is a bit low because there is no need to import them. But the console version costs way higher here.India is PC friendly:)

I used EADM for Crysis 1 and while its not really great, its pretty much a straight download to your HDD and not as invasive as Steam, besides the EAStore will allow for all those exclusive unlockables and 64 bit unlike Steam.

I feel like Steam doesn't offer too much incentive to preorder from them, while EA offers extra incentive to purchase first party.

Not sure how much better EADM is now than it was in 2007, but im willing to risk it since I didn't have many problems with it before. I just hope it has preloading possible.

Sorry Steam, not my purchase choice this time.

Doesn't Steam do address checks now?

And get stuck with limited activations? No thanks. I also never blamed Steam in my post.

Because the game is unlocked on Steam 2 days after the retail release so I either buy retail and get it on release day with an activation limit or I buy on Steam and wait 2 days while everyone else is having fun playing the game.

Also, I refuse to buy any titles on Steam which have been price jacked for Australia. Even though I have games on my account which have been jacked (Black Ops is the first one that springs to mind), those were retail purchases where I activated the key with Steam.

If the Steam version ends up having the same activation scheme as retail copies then I'm definitely not buying it as I loathe 3rd party DRM like SolidShield (which this game is most likely going to use) on top of Steam's DRM.
