Lag and lack of human players - england

Post » Sat Aug 15, 2009 9:27 pm

ok so erm, i went out and bought a brand new xbox and brink only to find brink barely plays even like a real game. Every friend I have here in Plymouth, england, is experiencing rediculous lag that it s literally so unbelievable that we can't play the game. This is not because of our internet providers as we all play black ops and halo like there's no tomorrow, like literally there are 5 xboxes and 1 (ha ha) ps3 in our house alone and we have never experienced anything even close to this. Why is there so much lag and what's with there being no lobbies!!??

If I have chosen to be a security character, why the hell am I being placed in resistance teams all the time. I picked security for a reason and I should not have to try and change teams all the time to make sure I play as security.

Now I am definitely not trying to be big headed or anything so please, no childish responses to this, but seriously - where are the human players!? It is soooo easy, why are there bots in the first place!? Surely that should be a choice!? No other game I play sticks you in 'online multiplayer' games with bots!!?? Literally if I manage to get a game that isn't lagging horrendously, (stopwatch seems to be less laggy by a fair way,) then it is so easy it's like playing a standard game on 'easy.' I did not buy the game for these reasons, it's completely pointless and offers no difficulty whatsoever, my mum could smash this game in a day...

Why are there only 2 'freeplay' game modes!!?? Like, every other game in the world has mutlitple different game types, this has 2, 'objective' and 'stopwatch' - is that a joke?

Surely there's no way in the world this game could have been a finished version when it was released!? It's a complete joke and I'm very dissapointed - I've spent £200 to play this game and it's not even worth playing! Now don't give me any grief about it being my own fault spening that much just to play this game, it is not my fault that the pre-release marketing promised so much it hasn't delivered! If i had have known any of what I know now I wouldn't have bothered - obviously...

What plans are in the pipeline to fix all of these issues and where are the official press releases regarding the lag and lobby problems!

It's a real shame because I don't want to say anything bad about this game because the concept is really good, but seriously guys, are you trying to pull the wool over our eyes here really!? At least give us some news!

UPDATE:

ok i have just seen some news on the brink site i hadn't noticed before, apparently there have been some updates for the lag, but it hasn't worked here yet! In fact the xbox hasn't even said 'update available' or anything so is it even available here yet? And I've also seen that there are 5 different 'match settings' which offer a bit more variance to the 2 game modes, but still, they are only 'settings,' not game types so my original question still stands... And what exactly is the wholoe thing with the 'big teams' settings, I don't see what the big deal is, I think I may have missed something here?

At least the free DLC in june is a nice 'sorry' which is appreciated...

well re the lag and the update the latest update for the lag was imposed server side,so it would not inform you on xbox live, that there was a patch so if you have played in the last day or two you already have it.
basically they have reduced the number of human players in some game modes to a max of 8 humans, ie 4v4 humans plus 4v4 bots.
it does not seemed to have fixed the lag issue though, hence maybe the dearth of players online right now.
the lag is really so bad that you can't play.
so i suggest you keep coming back to these forums to check on the progress of the patch, go play some coop on hard? you wont smash that.

I haven't had much trouble with lag on PS3, although it does creep in during the last 2-3 minutes of a match and can sometimes get you killed. As for the 4v4 Humans and 4v4 Bots, the game is meant to be a 16 player online experience, so is the reduction temporary until the lag is fully sovled or a permenant change to the game?

My bad if I sound dumb but overall this is a great game, that just needs fixing.

u don't sound dumb, u don't know something if no-one has ever told u, that's why I'm here asking questions too - I think I do have the update as I have the 'big teams' option which I think is part of the update but there pretty much isn't any change lag-side...

as it turns out the lag does seem to have chilled out but there's something that is still extremely annoying - running for ages through the map only to get shot and respawn MILES away again - if ur playing with a lame team this is an absolute nightmare! why has it been done like this? is there anyway around it that doesn't involve getting annoyed at ur teammates for being the only medic?

It really pays to read. I knew there was something odd yesterday when I played 5 full games with only 4 players on each team(PS3). I can only say I can not believe is permanent. The game have been out for only a few days and this things take time and a lot of programers. We just need patience. Coming from MAG I know how it feels to spawn a mile away from the objective. Being a team based game you will need more medics. I blame it on this COD generation. Most people playing this shooters are more concern about getting their kills than helping each other.. This is where my complain comes. This game was promoted as a team based game yet it has no real friend's support. Besides the private matches is a pain getting a group in to a public game. There is no 'rooms' and players can not jump into lower level matches not even by invite. This means lower levels have to find the friend with the highest level and jump in his game. Now what happens if an even higher level friend comes in. The group of friends that were already playing will have to jump to his game in order to keep everybody together. There is no doubt public matches were created with lone wolves in mind. I understand they want to keep matches balanced but players buy shooters to have fun while competing with others and there is nothing better than to do it with friends.

the lag is killing this game atreiou.. its the same story over here in canada.
The game appears to be relatively light weight, simple and smooth. There aren't a high amount of textures or physics in play in comparison to other similar games so i can't pin point what would be the cause of such lag. 8v8 has in the past (halo2) been difficult to run but i think developers are past that hurdle now. that said 4v4 should run smooth and it doesn't, so thats a problem. I have yet to try it on lan but I'd like to give that a shot. They need to recode and fix some networking.. something isn't right. once they get to the bottom of this issue people will come. but nobody wants to play a game where lag is your worst enemy.
