What type of DirectX 11 Patch do you think we will get?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:16 pm

6GB patch of course, as you cannot literally "PATCH" DX9 for DX11/DX10. It has to be technically an overhall of the core graphics

A buggy one, that claims to do something, but does not actually do it.

Not that I'm actually expecting 6 GB, that'd take ages to download.
And I have an old DX10 card, so I mostly voted for textures. :P

I voted for the crappy "patch". I'm not expecting much from Crytek...
I also have a card that only goes as high as DX10, so I'm hoping that if the "DX11" patch will do something, it will also ad DX10.

I don't think we will get a dx11 patch at all. I doubt they're working extra to make the game look better on ONE platform. They probably moved on and are working on a next sequal.

Yep, the Crysis 2 Wars :) which will be priced $60 and will be as buggy as the original second part that we are complaining at now.

I think that there will be something that will make the game use DX11 but it wont be something special. Just an ordinary patch to shut us up.

No... it wont be an ordinary patch Cry babies... first of all in order for tessellation to work there will have to be high resolution texture... which means we will recieve high resolution textures... second thing they will also tessellate water to make it look real wavey from range. Third thing they WILL add POM because DX11 doesnt go without POM since DX11 tessellation is advanced POM in a way. I dont know about destructible buildings like in BC2 but to be frequent it would look really dumb in this game and current physics is quite good. Shadows will use shader 5.0 to be smooth as butter so dont vory u wont be able to play crysis 2 on extreme with ur sli gtx 580s ;)

crysis 1 showed everyone how a game should look when it came out. now crytek will show everyone how a patch can be done to improve graphics when DX11 is ready. The DX11 patch will be momentous. the game was only released because the consoles were ready, it was released on pc with the understanding that DX11 patch would come later, which it is. if DX11 wasn't going to be a hugh increase in looks then why bother because the game does look rather well as is. MP bugs are another issue.

POM is already possible via autoexec.cfg, afaik. No need to add it anymore.

It has no effect in-game. Try it and see for yourself :(

Maybe with patch 1.4. But I'm playing SP with the exe from 1.2. Maybe I'm wrong, and it's only a illusion, but I have the feeling, that POM works....and in the console the game accepts "r_UsePOM 1"....

Epic 6GB Patch with Tesselation, high res textures,compute shader, etc 34% 34% [ 127 ]
Small 100MB patch with nothing special...Maybe better shadows. 11% 11% [ 42 ]
Something in the middle: 2GB patch with some FX, better textures. 29% 29% [ 109 ]
Just a DirectX 11 render path with no actual features to shut us up. 25% 25% [ 94 ]

come-on vote for the 6GB patch

I can safely say that I don't want a big patch at all. Perhaps a modest size patch (500-800MB) that will contain things to instruct the game to render textures at a higher resolution than is currently set by the engine.

I'd wish a 6Gb patch but I'm going to vote to the render patch to shut us up, because I don't want to be disappointed by Crytek never more.

Yes, it accepts the CVAR. Doesn't mean it works. Do a screen-by-screen comparison of some terrain if you don't believe me.

If theyre working on it, I wouldn't be surprised if they charged people for a dx11 patch. How many people would consider that a last straw? The MP would definately be dead then.
