Why don't they use VTOLs anymore?

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 2:51 am

So far in all the trailers and gameplay videos I've seen, I can't find a single VTOL.
It seems they are all using helicopters now. But in Crysis 1 they said that the US marine don't use helicopters anymore as VTOLs are superior than helicopters. I believe it would be true in real life as well as VTOLs can have a thicker armor, less weak points as well as being more maneuverable.
Anyone figure out why they are all switching back to normal helicopters now?

In this screenshot there's a VTOL: http://www.abload.de/image.php?img=dropvzz0.png (Thanks Pissdrunx1987 for uploading).

But you bring up an interesting point, why the other factions doesn't. Will be very interesting to see who they are, the other human faction that is.

This... the VTOL transport craft program (real life) has been all but scrapped because, as stated, they found it has all the flight dynamics of an aerodynamic cinder block. Crash one or two.. or five... with troops on board and people start getting skittish around the aircraft. It it still in service, but not near to the extent that was originally proposed, and that doesn't seem like it is going to change in the near future.

Curiously, i loved the VTOL part in Crysis, and i'm looking forward for something like that in C2.
