2 Thinks I would like to see in the multiplayer.

There are two thinks I would love to see in the multiplayer of C2.

One might be made possible by Crytek and might set this game apart in a new way. (as far as I know)
The other is up to the the mod-community.

1. Now that Crysis is also available for consoles let us have mixed mp. Xbox PlayStation and PC gamers all mixed in one multiplayer. The console-players of-course may use auto-aim while PC-user may not. Is there any game that offers this already? I don't think so.

2. Make some older great games relive as a Crysis 2 Mod. (of-course with the weapons originally used and no Nano-suit). For example Doom, or the standard maps from Wolfenstein (return to castle / ET) or maybe event the house of Lara Croft in TR2. Maybe the start-area from Postal 1 (yes one). When doing so it should also be as simple as in the original but with the graphics and physics from cryengine 3. Not tree's where they do not belong (because they look so cool) and all of these extra stuff that make new game so.. crowded.

For the first I think it is not quite possible as Crytek would have to put in much more effort. I don't think they would really bother doing so.
As for the second I think it is quite possible as long as Crytek releases the sandbox editor.

Well keeping the community alive means the sales will stay higher (while if they don't they sell games in the first 2 months and then it's over) and it creates a big community for Crysis 3 so if they are smart they continue to put in efforts also after the release.

If I am correct all the tools needed are already leaked so it would be very strange if they are not also released the official way.

I'd love cross platform across all games, but it won't happen for two reasons:

a) Microsoft charge for xbox live, people won't be happy if they're playing against people who get it for free. Plus the cross over of names would cause confusion for the xbox and psn systems.
b) PC players would stomp all over consoles because the keyboard and mouse is just far superior.

Ways to combat this:

a) Stop paying for xbox live, they'll soon make it free. The name crossover can be sorted server side since there can only be two versions of each name for the consoles. Just append each name with -360 and -ps3 in game. Steam ID's don't matter as much, they're far more flexible.

b) Allow console players to use KB+M.

Shadowrun. And as far as I know, PC users wiped the floor with Xbox players, specifically because of the superior accuracy of the mouse. Cross-platform gaming is great, if you want half of your players to lose constantly.

Ah, I did not know that it was already possible with a game.

Well I knew the console-players would get slaughtered but that’s why I wanted to gave them auto-aim.

You should also be able to go for a mix map or not. And the name-problem is like you said yourself indeed not a real problem. I can imagine that for example C2 MP allows PC-gamers to kill trees why consoles don't have the power to handle that. (just an example, don't say this is true) but problems like that can be overcome by having the mixed games being played at the lowest settings (Xbox 360?).

Cross platform will be a bad idea, PC players will just own too much.

On top of that, console users will be using and/or hogging the dedicated servers. The only way I can see it as cross platform is if

1. EA buys dedicated servers so the ones who bought it won't be pissed off that the console users are using it
2. Give an option where you can restrict console users from joining someone's server

The only multi-platform gaming that would even be fair would be Xbox-PS3. PC-Console multi-platform gaming would be unfair even if the console players do have aim assist. PC players would have such a massive advantage that no consoler players would want to play that way. Why do you think nobody plays PC games online with an Xbawks pad?

Cross platform gaming is unfair at best, and a slaughterhouse at its worse. Until consoles either get a very responsive and accurate gamepad or transition to using a mouse and keyboard, its simply not a good idea.

I think cross-platform would be awesome. I'm dying to pound some console-ers. I think tehcnically i'ts not difficult to implement. Portal 2 will have PS3/PC cross-play for coop.

@ fawstoar
The second idea is a mod and so not really this game. You just use the techniques provided by this sandbox to make another mp-game. It would indeed not fit Crysis 2 but that’s not the point.

And about the slaughterhouse. I also had that idea but when I speak to console-players they always say that they are way better with a game-pad then with a mouse and keyboard. So I would like to see them putting their money where their mouth is.

The precision offered by a mouse would definitely be a substantial advantage. Plugging a mouse and keyboard into the PS3 also (AFAIK) usually doesn't offer the same advantage for some reason. This was the concensus on Unreal Tournament anyway.

you should watch the show pach attack on gametrailes. He explains why microsoft and other big gaming companies do the things they do and refuse to do other things. Like why games like wow aren't on console...because blizzard would never give microsoft a dime to let their players use the box to play wow. I'm sure a similar thing (in addition to the reasons already mentioned) would block cross platform gaming.

Uh, WoW isn't on the Xbox because you barely have enough keys to play it on a goddamn keyboard, let alone a controller.
