PC does the making- consoles do the playing?

(Obviously PC guys can play it too, bear with me)

I'm no tech whizz, but I understand that consoles wouldnt really be able to handle sandbox editor. Now that aside, if a PC player were to make a map (within a 'console limit' of detail), could they then put it on some sort of server cloud that console players can access, download the map and then play?

I'm not saying "Yeah they need to do this!". I'm just saying 1. Could it be done? and 2. Would you like the idea?

I think it can be done, just how easy it is to do is more of the problem. I like the idea but console guys think that they are awesome at mapping and I somehow don't think they are.

Don't see why not, but it would probably require a map hosting service from Crytek. MS and Sony might also complain about not being able to charge for the maps.

I think that would be a very cool idea.

Maybe that map will have to run a benchmark test and get 25+fps average before being approved for download?

Only PC gamers have the hardware to run the tool in the 1st place. But there are a vast number of console gamers some of them are bound to be good at it.
