Hope Crytek resolves the graphics Hndicp issue with Crysis 2

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 3:01 am

im not sure about the rest of you, but i use to enjoy playing Crysis wars on high, but it was a disadvantage, i hated the fact that the dude with the specs at bare minimum, had it easier than me, dont get me wrong, i never complained before, i felt normal, but i always hated that when i played on my pc, a bush felt like a good place to hide, but no, as we all know, when on low, bushes are see through, so all im saying is, sont give dudes with bare minimum settings a advantage this time, in fact make it harder, like they cant see through glass and water or something

So... uh... turn your settings down?
That's not an advantage, that's there to increase framerate.

I understand i can maintain framerate on a higher standerd , but at bare, the game just like like cs, just feels a little old and outdated, not sure about you guys, but i built my hardware around crysis, so i can enjoy it. so really IM the one with a disadvantage, im just insisting, how about give higher end user advantages to compensate,i remember in crysis wars, on medium, you can see shadows, but that was it........ , dont get me wrong, the game is great however you play it, just no longer fair

Totally agree with you there, I'm sure just putting in a 2D bush for detail scaling would be fine... kind of like how BFBC2 does it.
Definitely feel your frustration, lower end PCs shouldn't have an advantage - No-one should have the advantage.
I hate the feeling of, 'If I turned down the graphics I could basically 'wall hack' and see everyone.' That svcks! I wunna make the game look the best I can!
Let's hope their detail maps are good!

Most FPS games give an advantage to people who play on low settings so it isnt really anything new. Its probably always going to be easier to spot people on lower settings. No player should have an advantage when it comes to visual settings.

As long as you're playing on PC other players will have advantages/disadvantages. For example in many games you can turn player model brightness up so enemies are easier to spot. Get used to it. If your hardware isn't running at a steady frame rate with max settings then lower them. The see through bushes sound lame though lol.

The lowest graphics settings for Crysis 2 is actually pretty good looking, about what Crysis Wars looks at on medium. That is the reason why the 8800GTS is the minimum requirement for Crysis 2. ^-^

The minimum specs in Crysis 2 have been confirmed to sit at the same level as the console graphics. a 8800GT is MUCH more powerful than the GPU in either console

Yes, let's turn up the minimum allowed LOD ratio so that everyone has to play the game at the pitiful framerate you call smooth!

Don't worry about crysis 2 though, there aren't many bushes, and the maps aren't big enough for draw distance to be an issue most of the time.

Obviously you've never played power struggle, and posted at a enemy bunker.

Yea, the old MP-LOD issue. The only way to resolve it is to set major objects (i.e. bushes, not cups and paper on the ground) to have the SAME LOD regardless of settings, and then when you do lower the LOD settings, the unimportant objects disappear - not bushes.

"I play on 800x600 screen and I can't see the enemies from far but the can see me because they have a 1920x1080 screen so they can see smaller things and have more FoV, So Crysis 2 should make everyone play on 800x600 and lock the FoV to that of a 3:4 screen so people with larger wide screens don't have an advantage over people with smaller ones"

Maybe they can make some optional option on servers so the system-settings can belong to the server / map. When you then join a game (that has this option enabled) your settings change to the "server-system-settings". And of course these settings are then locked for you.

For most settings that’s possible but not for all. For brightness and resolution that might be a problem or useless (setting resolution at server is a bad idea and not really a issue and brightness is useless because you can change it on you monitor plus some screens are darker and so need higher brightness). It also means that every server (with this option enabled) should show it's system-settings so you know if you can join the game. (If your PC is able to handle those settings)

I don't think it's very hard to make so they can create it in some patch.
