Speed and Strength Modes on Nanosuit 2

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 3:45 pm

Personaly i think they should have done it like this for consoles
Make R2 the nanosuit toggle button so we have
R2+up = Armour
R2+left = Cloak
R2+ right = Speed
R2+ down = Strength

yeahi wonder where kryndon got that info. also megaspiderweb's layout seems like it would work just fine to me. probably even slightly easier than the mouse wheel tbh

Speed is only about as fast as CoD sprinting from what I've seen and the Nanosuit plays much more like a fat man or mech instead of being your "skin" so to say in Crysis 1 where the movement was very freeflowing and open and you felt much more like a Cheetah or Jaguar in combat than the Rhinoceros and Elephant it seems to play like now.

I'ts way cooler when the suits speed and strength is on at all time. Now you can do a power jump with high speed and jump further than you could in crysis 1. I really liked how they did things in crysis 2

In which case it's pretty damn fast. Everyone in CoD runs like Usain Bolt.

nanosuit 2 is a lot better than NS 1, in crysis 1 i didnt have to use strength or speed to survive, i only needed armor mode but in crysis 2 u need everything u have to survive, trust me...

bro its not my fault that you're a dullard and have no imigination or urge to get more out of a game than just to beat it.

i didnt HAVE TO, i did use them a lot but they weren't the key to survive but in crysis 2 u need them to survive

From what ive seen Cloak yet again makes the game a cakewalk so I wouldnt say I agree with your comment.

it aint that easy with cloak anymore, its not (that) open world, and i was talking more about armor to be honest and u will need that armor more than ever

Again this argument... N2 > N1. Why? Let me explain it this way.

Strength and Speed are things wich you would only use, when you want to jump high, or sprint to another cover. When do you use that in Crysis 2? Right, for EXACT the same. Its just been simplified, to make it accessable while not getting distracted of the suit wheel and the decision, wich mode to use. And as many pointed out, now those things are avaiable in Cloak or Armor, to gain an extra advantage.

About the strength punch using all your energy, dont tell me, you would overuse this like you could in Crysis 1. It was boring, running around in strength mode running around, punching koreans and still having 80% suit energy. Thats almost cheating. So now, you cant run around like that, what makes the game a little harder, even on normal. It's all about balancing, folks, same goes for the sprinting speed in relation to the energy usage. It's more balanced.

And for not shooting while holding an enemy... In C1 it was the most unrealistic thing ever. The Koreans were just like a wooden stick, who does nothing when its been grabbed. Now, the enemies fight, when you're choking them, wich would really keep the player from holding a gun. Inbefore, grabbing aliens costs Power Energie, because you need strength to hold these ultra heavy aliens in your hands. Logical, right?

For nanosuit 2 to be superior to nanosuit 1, it must be as fast or faster, as strong or stronger, and more accessable. So far the only thing they've done is make the modes more accessable, but speed mode is basically just a normal human sprint that for some reason costs energy and the suit must be weaker if it cant hold an enemy and a pistol at the same time. Also, why on earth would SLIDING cost energy? Very weird and dissapointing.

@ JustNameless,
How can you get distracted with the suit wheel? You have 5 options to choose, either armor, cloak, speed, strength or weapon customization. How is it possible to get distracted with it? You just choose one, unless people have trouble multitasking when focusing on the enemy while choosing a single suit module.
Also, I don't like anything else you've put, like about the simplicity of the suit modules. It's terribly biased, yet an opinion upon this topic, and thus I shall respect it.

you'd have to be a pretty big simpleton to be distracted while selecting a suit mode lol. And i used those modes for much much more than you mention... like to throw a grenade farther, charge a turret faster, swim faster, etc.

In the Beta at least, speed was the default mode. Like armor in Crysis. The strength however is automatic in all modes.

So far, everyone has been using the multiplayer demo for their anolysis. And by the way they are phrasing their posts, it's obvious alot have just watched video of it and have not played the demo personally. So people are mostly speculating on incomplete knowledge. Everyone is so eager to have an opinion ASAP these days that people will just jump to a conclusion as quickly as possible with whatever info they can find, even if it's incomplete.

Speed mode is gone and it stinks that they couldn't have just improved it. Such as if you just click L3 you enter a normal sprint, but if you hold down L3 you go into speed mode. Something like that could have been done.

But it is a fact that now you can use powers simultaneously. Switching between powers quickly is not the same thing. In the first game you coiuld not have armor mode on and hurl an enemy rediculous distances.

No. Thirteen, speed is not the "default mode". All you have now is a regular sprint that drains energy, and that only activates when sprinting. By that same logic Strength would be the default mode in Crysis 2.

I don't know if it was just me, but I used armor quite a bit in the demo and the sprint was slower in armor mode than it was in default. It might jus be something with armor mode and in default you also reloaded more quickly. Again, it might just be something with armor mode. I'm not really sure.

When in Armour mode, you can't sprint becasue you're "heavier" which makes sense.

No, it doesn't. To be heavier you need to get extra mass. And unless you're living in the Mass Effect universe, you can't simply add or subtract mass out of nowhere. The only thing Armor mode could possibly do to make you slower and also make sense would be to make the suit more rigid.

Sorry Jack, but wearing armour would make you more heavier... and it would hinder you when running (as in not being as fast) as well... the Mass Effect environment has nothing to do with this game dude... >.<

Yeah, except that the suit generates the armor, you don't go to a station and have it strapped to you. The suit changes its structure, but it doesn't *add* any new substance to itself.

The reason I say that it seems to add weight to you when activated is because you hear the sound of your footsteps change to a "clunking" sound when you walk and you move a bit slower (judging from the demo I played) this might change in the full game but this is what I think No. Thirteen ment. You walk a bit slower and you can't run as fast when amour mode is active.

if there wont be a option to turn it on like armor and stealth then i wont buy the game..
i am cool that they put them together i mean now u can sprint and jump high at the same time thats cool but if they will make it so **** like when u mele attack it turns on streigh and when u sprint it turns on speed thats just extremely stupid ...

i mean its all getting waaay to foolproof-ish
i mean this game is +16 and not +12 ...

Streamlining controls and suit modes is bad why exactly? It doesn't remove depth, it removes complications. Like now, you can change suit modes WHILE you change direction... That is a good thing, not a bad thing. Yes, I learned to control the C1 suit modes effectively, but making that easier just gives you more time to focus on the shooter elements.

It takes away an artificial element, and leaves organic ones to determine who wins. That's good.
