Any way to turn off the tactical suggestions

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 6:28 am

In the recent Crysis 2 gameplay segment on Gamespot they pointed out that when you use the visor zoom that it also will show you the best spots to go. Is there anyway to turn these off? Its ruins the sense of sandbox choice and also removes any creative thinking of how to conquer a situation because the game just says, "Hey go here, here is the best spot to be." So does anyone know if you can turn these off and also what are your thoughts on these tactical suggestion markers?

Its a super advanced suit, you would expect it to recognise tactical options, and when you turn the visor off it shuts down the tactical options unless you mark enemies or things or interest.

Tactical options are very broad or for things you wouldn't otherwise expect.
Did you know that if you shoot green-brown barrels in Crysis 2 highly obscuring smoke comes out?
Of course you didn't.
That's why the suit tells you.

As soon as the console commands are known you will be able to switch off/on assets you don't or do want in the game world.

Well then why doesn't "the suit" just play for me if it's so smart?

Because the suit is an exo skeleton and not a robot.

In Crysis 3 the suit will be so advanced that it can handle everything itself. It doesn't need a human.

No, it's a piece of software.

I heard that Crysis 3 will be playable with the Wiimote.

In Crysis 3 the nanosuit will be so "streamlined" that you can play with one button and by waving your hand around. For example, the superior advanced nanosuit 3 has all modes combined into one, hit A to shoot/punch/walk/run/jump/talk/drive/fly/pickup/opendoor/etc.

Ok, joking aside. I also find it too exxagerated that the suit is able to recognize what is a threat and not. It indicates flat story-design with not too much care (I don't care for the story in Crysis anyway). The advantages of that smart suit are that it can inform the player about his possibilities and anolize things. But the suit could simply have those information saved in its memory and present them whenever you want. It would add a more authentic feel to it. A suit that is able to recognize what is a threat and make suggestions what to do is just "too advanced" and less authentic.

Also Gould is obviously Otacon, I see what you did here, Crytek:P

You mean the same software that can barely tell it's driving into a wall at 100kph?
Yeah, it'll get better in 16 years, but I doubt it'll be to the point where it can fully anolyze terrain features, enemy armaments, enemy amount, possible positions, possible patrol routes, escape routes and timing as well as the human brain.

Yes, that type of a problem reaches a complexity-level where a computer can do nothing about it. It needs a human to estimate the situation, an ordinary human has the most sophisticated filter to estimate daily life situations and it also excells in visual recognition. Don't expect much to happen in 16 years, you will be still sitting on your playstation4 and an Iphone or something like that.

Not that there is something bad about it;) Some people just expect technological improvements as if live goes up and up like a line and has no limitations to it. As example from technological side the computer hardware doesn't improve anymore since 5 years or more already. Only architectual improvements are made to achieve superior hardware, not technological anymore. So what does it mean? Parallel computing. Good luck with programming, sony and co.;)

The software will be so advanced it uplinks with your brain and controls you in the real world.

Imagine walking into work everyday and saying 'Tactical Options Available. Hit on Kayley or make coffee. Warning, incoming alien threat' (your boss enters)

lol

I would like, if harder difficulties will disable some features, just like in the original Crysis, which is why I always played on Delta difficulty setting.

Don't blame the suit when there are no tactical options available, the suit cannot know the game:P
