Does Nanovision need a counter?

Ive been playing the demo for a while now and im doing quite well at it. What I seem to notice online though is that all the good players are the ones that keep going in and out of Nanovision. Its too good not to use because it lets you see through foliage, see anyone in line of sight, see Cloaked players very easily and im pretty sure you can even pick up people through walls with it if they are hugging it. Its a borderline wall hack.

There doesnt seem to be anything in the retail game that I know of that actually counters Nanovision.

Rather than outright reducing the strength of this utility I would rather see a Stealth module changed to help counter this. Perhaps Stealth Enhance offer a reduced heat signature at rank 3 instead of a reduced energy drain?

Obviously Cloak needs some sort of counter within the game but there are already so many.. Nanovision, Cloak Tracker, Proximity Alarm to a less extent and possibly Visor Enhance.

What are other peoples opinions on the way Nanovision changes gameplay?

I agree and your solution sounds good - reduced heat signature with Cloak Enhance lvl3.

It just seems too easy to spot people or parts of people not behind cover from up to a mile away cloaked or otherwise. But if and when I get it I probably won't mind. Does seem to spoil the whole point of an FPS looking good though I found the same thing with AVP.

yeah I think the effectiveness of nanovision should be tuned downatad against cloak....maybe giving it a range

Very nice idea!

Also, Nanovision in general should not be nerfed, but it should drain your energy faster. That would encourage people to not walk around with it full time.

Oh great, they have actually made it possible to see cloaked persons with nanovison? This is a improvement from the last Beta.
It was not possible before.

I think nano vision should be where you can only flash it on for a split second. Like every time you press "n" for nanovision, the nano vision just flashes (of course without the "nano vision enabled" sound because then you'd be hearing it like 30 times a match lol). It should take up like 10 energy each time you tap the n key to flash it.

Then there should be a module specifically to toggle nano vision on for at least 5 seconds.

Idk, it's not that big of a deal IMO, but there's always room for more balancement.

It's fine the way it is, MAYBE we could up the energy drainage a bit. But doing stuff like giving it a range limit would be stupid.

It was not possible before.

Cloaked players show up as a blue mist in Nanovision. It stands out a lot against the white background Nanovision gives. I barely even use Cloak because Nanovision nulls it at all but the most extreme ranges.

Go to 2.28 and you see the player spot and kill a Cloaked player from quite a distance.
