Crysis 2 performance ratio

Still many Pc gamers are cryin about the grfx... even when they are in fact almost equal to Wars ( i dont care about 3,4,5 muddy textures)

But i still wonder about one statement in some earlier interviews... if you could run Crysis 1, Crysis 2 will maybe even run better. Its true actually; the Multiplayer demo gives me at least 10 Fps more in hardcoe than wars did in its highest settings. But what happened to cause that kinda increased performance?
I mean its obvious that the Cryengine 3 is not miles away from its predecessor (optical). But whats the secret behind the increased performance here ?
Okay...the City wont eat up as much memory as the wide tropical island +1.
We all see some strange placed, "very" low res textures ( which really seem they dont belong there) do they help to save performance? Id really like to know your suggestions about what optimizations make the Cryengine 3 to a superior engine when it comes to performance (over Cryengine 2.)

Well for starters Cryengine 3 is optimized for quad cores, and will support 8 core cpus as well (the first engine to do that :D)

no its not trig -.-
1 its a xbox demo port=dx9 and worse graphics
2 crysis was just lets add everything possible in graphic tech, but not try to make it run any good
3 they had to make ways for crysis2 to look amazing yet run on consoles so they made ways to run things alot easier
4 they made warhead more optimized if you didnt notive
5 wait for the full game to come out to judge anything

they used a method found in another (cough) game, while in gamer, individual fps is assigned to various objects, ex. drop ships, figures and things that move look choppy, saving some power there, it then uses motion blur to try and hide it the fps drop, thus not putting stress on the engine, if the game feels a little heavy, these objects will drop in fps, but, the user's fps will stay consistent, when on hardcoe, the engine disregards this feature, and makes all objects run smoothly, hence, the fps drop. This is how they managed to get it running on a xbox, and a ps3
