Friendly Fire Implementation svcks

I'm not against being able to shoot your teammates, but Brink's implementation of friendly fire is terrible. This game feels like it was designed without friendly fire and at the last minute a half-assed option to enable friendly fire was added.

-You can stomp teammates when they are down. This means if two players die on top of each other, it is random chance if you stomp the enemy or teammate. Sometimes you can't wait because the other player is a medic who may have self-revive.

-Sliding knocks down teammates, this gets really annoying, very quickly. Players love to randomly slide so chances are half your team will get knocked down on the way out of the spawn. On top of this sliding is a key maneuver that you need to be able to do. Furthermore there are spots where you automatically slide if you are using SMART run. I hate getting knocked down by teammates 3-4 times on the way to the battle.

-The friendly fire XP penalties are way out of whack. They feel incredibly front loaded. Clipping a guy with a few bullets when he steps into your line of fire usually dings you for 15-25 points. Continuing to dump your clip into him doesn't make it that much worse. Winging a teammate should carry a light penalty that ramps up as you deal more damage. The heavy penalty should be if you down a teammate.

-The server browser has no indication of what settings the servers run. You have no way of avoiding friendly fire servers without joining them and then leaving. You have no way of filtering them out.

-Mines have huge FF penalties, if someone gets FFed by a mine it is their own fault. They knew that mine was there.

-Grenades carry some heavy FF penalties too, if you hit 2-3 enemies and 1 ally, that was, overall a good use of a grenade. The penalty shouldn't be large unless you hit multiple allies.

my personal opinion is that the friendly fire is pretty nice as it is, It actually makes you care where you shoot and or throw.

Mines go of when a friendly step on them? i've never experienced that.. but if thats the case yeah there definatly should not be a penalty for mine ff.

As for throwing a grenade when theres 2 enemies attacking 1 teammates, its completly fair that you get a penalty for throwing a grenade that hurts your teammates, no mather how many people hes got shooting at him.
Personally I do not consider throwing a grenade at a teammate when he has 2-3 people around him a good use of the grenade, you would be better served throwing a flashbang or trying to help him with your gun.

I do how ever agree that the servers need to be listed as FF servers.

FF servers should have a auto boot for grifers as well, yea yea there is a vote to kick option, but anyone who has ever playd an online game with that feature knows it amost never works as the majority of players arnt paying attention enough to vote.

also wtf is up with the only non-bot servers being FF on ( on xbox anyway)

Brink's FF is a patient and highly strategic game mode. It forces you to be mindful as oppose to running and gunning. Although some of the issues mentioned in the OP are warranted (melee strikes on downed team mate instead of enemy)...I believe simple mental adjustments will alleviate some of the unfortunate team kills....like reviving team mates before jolly stomping enemy lying next to him. FF can be fun, but only when the team is playing as a team. This is just my opinion.

Friendly fire should be an option in the game, but it should be changed as follows:

Sliding should be unaffected by friendly fire, as in, it should work as it does with ff off.

It's very annoying when you get 250 points for blowing up an objective and lose 400 for a couple idiots standing by your bomb. It's an objective, you shouldn't be able to lose points for completing it.

The friendly fire point penalties seem out of whack in general, killing one enemy who stood on a grenade takes away the same number of points you would gain by killing 5 enemies. This situation is more often your teammate being an idiot than you doing anything wrong.

Can't really think of anything else, other than the game should inform you that it's a teammate shooting you, not an enemy.
