And like so, Valve becomes the last trully PC friendly company in the entire industry.
It, and Crytek were regarded as the PC friendliest companies that fully support their community and mods, the Crymod website was a testimony to that relationship. I guess that just went completely out the window.
What happened to the people saying "we'll get mod tools in the summer" and "sandbox right off the box to create maps". And their reasoning is **** too. So no acess to the server files wich pretty much rules out multiplayer community content be it maps, full mods or whatever else. And now the road is paved for DLC after DLC to get 3-4 new maps, all in the sake of money once again. I have no idea how these companies forget that it's through supporting their games and allow the community to flourish that they gain their sales, not by locking everything down with a giant slap to our collective faces.
**** it that's low. If you ask me, you can thank MW2 for this recent trend of consolization of the infrastructure of PC gaming and not just the actual game/gameplay. It proved that no matter how stripped down the games are sold, how unfriendly they are to their own community and how arrogant or completely ignoring the companies in those rare contacts with us, there will still be a mile-long line of witless idiots with money in their hands thanking the gods for their gift.
I hope that at the very least, they'll soon come out and officially announce there won't be any mod support because nobody expects it after this, and leaving it unanswered just irks people more and more.
Sad.
