Gifting a 2nd copy

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 11:08 pm

Your 'kind gesture'. Do you not realise that game publishers in particular, who are profiting from your 'nobility' (incidentally advertised on a public forum for all to see) would quite happily rip you off by forcing e.g. the release of a broken product?

They don't give a flying frack for anything other than your naivety for giving them more money.

You want to help the industry, promote anti-piracy. Throwing away your money gives further evidence to these people of how gullible gamers can be.

I can see your point of view. Most of my friends pirate and I try to convince them to do otherwise.

I know it's probably pointless and will have zero effect but I felt bad for Crytek and thought it might help, not financially but for morale.

Hey,

Being a huge fan of Crytek and their games, I'm concerned that the recent torrent leak will negatively affect future PC development.

As a gesture to Crytek (who's had issues with piracy in the past) I've just pre-ordered Crysis 2 and will be ordering a 2nd copy when it's available on Steam.

This will probably have zero impact financially (my purchase, I mean), but I wanted to show that genuine PC gamers do pay for their games and to please carry on making awesome games on our platform.

Kind Regards.
You better order 4 copies instead of two, because the official demo did more damage than the beta ever could.

This man is wise, listen to him. Also the publisher is EA so I'm completely against giving those soulless bastards anything more than what's absolutely necessary.

Noble?! Pointless & wasteful more like. Donate the money to charity if you want to help someone who really needs it. Can you help me out with a small donation?

I'm buying a second copy for my friends birthday. Otherwise he would be waiting for a price drop, since he's saving money for grad school.

@Deadpool46
At least when you waste money on such thing, give the second game to a friend who would enjoy it.
Waste because there are people who can't even afford one game and you just bought two.
If it is your own hard made money you probably would not have done the same. But maybe I am wrong and it's not your parents money...
There is no hate towards you in this comment. Just think before doing something. There are people that have a use of that money/that second copy which you probably didn't even pay for.

Erm if you are pre ordering a second copy then I hope it goes to a good person :D. For me one copy is enough lol saving money for expansion if there is one.

Honestly I've seen much worse usage of money than trying to show extra support to a developer you like, so for everybody doing so power to you. Until I read a variety of good comprehensive reviews of both the PS3 and PC version I'll wait on the PS3 version but definitely getting the PC version. If both turn out great I'll likely get both, did the same with a few other games including Dead Space 1, soon to be 2, and Black Ops.

Seriously...Id call topic creator a few choice words but I don't want the mods on me but I think you know what I'm
thinking.. But I think I can say that's beyond stupid and shows you are way too loyal and have too much money on your hands. You can be loyal for years but at the end of the day all companies want your money.

PC gaming isn't Crytek.Valve,Blizzard,Dice and all RTS and RPG developers are PC gaming. And at the moment we are on the top of that phukin' hill. There are tons of money to be made out of pc gaming , these companies saw the opportunity and our demands , we just want awesome games , and they deliver. The rest are just too phukin' blind and ignorand and lazy. Microsoft lost a lot of dosh paying companies to make exclusives for Xbox , without considering the fact this will lead to less sales for Windows Vista and 7. Gates may be the richest dork on the block , but he also is a narrow-minded one. Oh , the piracy ... yeah right.(where's me eye-patch?)
