Not a bad review. They seemed to enjoy it pretty well, apart from the fact they think it didn't really hit its stride until about the 5 hour mark. I'm really not sure what to think of that remark though, since some of my favourite games ever had a slow, almost boring opening. For me, Half-Life 2 was unbearably boring at some points, like the chapters Water Hazard and Highway 17 which seemed to drag for an eternity.

I'm interested to see what the metascore will turn out like. Anyone know how the leaked beta players found it?

In the Gameplay Video on this link, Nathan says that the first bit of the game you mostly deal with humans, then you graduate to aliens. (He also said that the reason they did that was to introduce how to play the game, in a less difficult fashion.)

Only 8 ?

First half of the game, you fight the CELL,
second half , fight the aliens.
then the CELL again and last missions, aliens.

Killzone got a 9, OPM have to say killzone is better than crysis 2. That's all there is to it.

I watched the leak and I am calling **** on that first 5 hours thing. The first 5 hours is action-packed just like the rest of the game. I guess OPM just liked playing against aliens over humans or something....

I'm just gonna go ahead and guess no body at their offices played Crysis 1 or the reviewer just found the Crysis Universe incredibly boring and didn't pay attention to the story at all.

8/10 is still great
so what if the first 5 hours were boring... he later states that he really enjoyed playing the rest of the* game

These are generally Xbox reviews unless someone proves me wrong. I want to see a PC review...

I didn't expect the game to take 8/10 tbh i expected 9 or 9.5, it's not bad though.I will have to check the game myself and see how it works out for me.
Can't wait to get the game.

From what I've seen it doesn't look like the game will get anything lower than 8's. This is good, trust me. As much as I'd like to see 9.5s and 10s, I expect we will see a lot of 9s, the odd 9.5, maybe one 10, and the rest 8.5.

Add those together and you have a mighty respectable metascore! Of course I'm talking out of my ass, but it's just my best guess.

In summary, probably a metascore of 90. Lowest we might see is 85-86, and ceiling 92.

not hard to guess given that all big name releases score well even if they svck. game sites dont want to piss off the developers/publishers.

Interesting considering they gave Killzone 3 a 9/10. I just checked my fastest times on the campaign, having beaten it once. I got about 3 hours of gameplay overall. 3 feking hours, and that was at the highest difficulty they give you out the gate, AND there are two missions where you just run around LOOKING at stuff.

AND the game is ridiculously easy, AND the ending is the second consecutive cliffhanger in the freaking series. 9/10 my ass, I give it a 5 because the soundtrack was good.

Boring. Talk to guy. Run down corridors, shoot really dumb AI, talk to next, guy, repeat. Finally give up and throw game off hard drive.

First 5 hours boring? Other Shooters have come to the end at 5 hours playing. For Example Medal of Honor or Black Ops. So when in Crysis 2 the first 5 hours are boring, I don't think so, but when the other half will be amazing.

I can't wait till next weeks Friday to have my Nano-Edition in my hands. Crysis 2 will be the best Game for me.

They probably spent the first 5 hours in emo mode because it was so much better than killzone 3 :p

This guy definitely disagrees with you:

I haven't played the leaked demo, but from watching videos, like the video he posted in his review, I'd have to disagree with you as well.

Anyway, OPM gave Killzone 3 a 9, so I honestly do not trust their reviews of FPS games.
