Will this game succeed in multi? Should I wait for this or..

I really want a new shooter for the PC. I am assuming this game will be the best on PC versus console. I played the demo, and while it is fun I am worried about the shakiness of it, and how it just about gives me a headache after playing.

I only see like 10 servers on the beta, and I just hope that this game doesn't turn into a ghost town upon release.

I am really looking forward to a shooter to play, and I don't know if I should wait for this game or if I should buy Homefront. I hear complaints about Homefront, but I hear a lot of negative comments about this game on these boards too. I am concerned that it won't succeed and become a barren multiplayer after a couple weeks, just like I feel Homefront will.

What do you guys think, will the multiplayer on this game be any good? Will it last awhile in your opinion?

I am really excited to play the singleplayer, but I may hold off buying the game if the multiplayer isn't going to be that good.

Looking forward to what you guys have to say.

I think the MP will last awhile, but for the first week or so there might not be that many people on the MP, they will probably be playing the Single Player. (At least I will be playing the single player :)

PS: I had like 500 Servers on my list, around 150 to 250 that were being played on.

Hmm well I really want to get this game, it looks great but I just don't know if I should shell out more money to games that might not succeed or have long lasting MP. I really am looking forward to this holiday season when games like Battlefield 3 are coming out, but I just don't know what to do for a game to play in the near future...

Crysis 2 may pull in a lot of CoD and Halo fans, that could mean that there will be lots of people on the Xbox/PS3 networks.

PS: I'm pretty sure that any respectable PC gamer will buy Crysis 2.

Well considering that the demo maxed out at an insane ~1,250 servers, with about half of them full, that gives us a.... 7,500 player total at any one time. It aint star Craft 2 (the LOWEST SC2 player count i've seen was 100x more), but it should do OK. My guess is that it will pick up after a month or two, as Crysis is still a relatively unknown game.

Well, Crysis 2 seems to have pulled in a playercount of about 8,000 - 9,000 players for the multiplayer.

Its not a lot, but it will last for a while if the release turns out okay. I expect the multiplayer to last atleast 6 months, but not as long or vigorous as the older Crysis game's because this game lacks public servers.

@ doomlord: yes, that's a lot of servers indeed, but considering each server is 12 slots, its kinda needed. Crysis launched with about the same server count and those had 32 players each, and I do believe it launched with a more vigorous player count than Crysis 2 has shown (not positive though).

Yea, that's just not that many people.

I am starting to get worried about how popular this game will be. I really want a new shooter for PC, but things like Battlefield 3 don't come out until the holidays... I am trying to decide if I should buy Homefront which people are complaining about (but there's a lot of players) or this next week.

I wouldn't get my hopes up for a long lived mp experience...I had my hopes up but I've decided to jump ship because I can't afford to waste 60 bucks on a game that will be bland after you unlock everything because of the incredibly shallow skill curve. I guess there will be some around after 6 months but I wouldn't put much faith in a good competitive player base.

Well me personally, I'm buying Homefront probably instead of Crysis 2.

Crysis 2 from what I have seen, won't have huge playcounts for multiplayer over an extended period of time. Homefront MP offers a lot more with also having public dedicated servers.

Crysis 2 > Homefront: Singleplayer
Homefront > Crysis 2: Multiplayet

That is how I feel the games compare to each other.

I think it was something like motion_blur=0 or motionblur=0 with the modding tool, it'll give you less of a headache.

I was interested in both Homefront and Crysis 2. The more I find out about both games the more I lean toward Crysis 2. I'm not gonna sweat the number of players online. I think it will be fine for as long as I'm interested.
