console leak

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 12:10 am

I remember when Crysis sales figures were disappointing Crytek kept blaming it on the PC community being a bunch of pirates. The fact that it ran like crap on the hardware available at the time was ignored, it was all our fault. Hell, I bought a legit copy and they still managed to make me feel a bit guilty. To combat the impact of pirating by PC gamers they decided to develop 3 versions for the sequel. PC, Xbox and PS3. Well, we are a couple of days away from Crysis 2 hitting the shelves and 2 out of 3 versions have already hit the torrentsites. Guess which? (hint : it's not the PC version)

Damn it makes online passes like the one for Homefront seem reasonable...The greedy few jack the industry up for the rest of us.

And some consolers still think piracy is only a PC thing, and we PC players, are the ones ruining gaming as a whole.

Just you wait until they all wake up and flood this thread with "so what? it's harder to pirate on a console!".

Well well crytek/EA, you made a statement about the pc leak yet no info released about the console leak, its already out on the internet for consoles, where your message stating that pirated goods is hurting consoles, (well it actually is) abit two face me thinks.

Before mod tries to close this, it hasnt broken any rules as its just facts, nothing illegal or hateful or anything else, I just want a equality response from the company to acknowledge that piracy happens on all systems and not mainly pc, otherwise its plain corporate slander towards pc gamers,

Have a nice day ;)

Not only pirates have console releases, they already can play them right now if I get it right. While on PC even pirates have to wait for a release date or some days after a release date. So, who's more "piratish" here—PC or console pirates? :) This constant whining of console (and even some PC) players about PC piracy really feels like successful brainwashing: they were told so many times about PC piracy that now it seems for them as a given, and they just don't want to accept the simple fact that nowadays consoles are also plagued with piracy.

Consoles game are always pirated. Fact. Combine that with second hand game sales and the console market has far games sold without a single penny going to devs.

The entertaining thing? 'sales' on console usually include second hand games. So that 16m copies or so of blops? I bet only 7m were new on console.

This looks like a retail leak, rather than an internal leak. The game is out in 4 days, after all. It's unfortunate that retailers employ people who do this sort of crap, but it happens with pretty much every major release.

Nothing exciting there.

yep, I seriously doubt this was internal. Some GameStops already have the game in their back rooms....some ass just took a copy and ripped it

Sorry about any misinterpretation, I'm not implying a internal leak from crytek/EA just that a leak from anywhere has happened and EA/Crytek should publicly make a statement like they did the pc leak otherwise consumers are not having the full facts about piracy when there's only corporate slander that is misleading to the public.
