looking to map/game building with CryEngine

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 4:48 am

So after an hour of searching around via google i can't seem to find any standalone installs for any version of CryEngine. I thought at some point they had released a standalone of sandbox2 for map creators, but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
Does anyone know where/how i can get ahold of the most recent version of the editoing tools for CryEngine as i'de really like to use them for my upcoming projects.

buy crysis
I fully intend on buying Crysis 2, however i dont intend to buy an older version just for the editing tools until i have a copy of Crysis 2 on hand. I was hoping to find a version of Sandbox 2 so i could familiarize myself with the tools prior to getting ahold of the new tools coming with Crysis 2. I wasn't planning on purchasing Crysis 1 just for the editing tools.

I dont think that crysis 2 is coming with any editing tools. I read a post or three yesterday asking a guy that already had the disks if he could find any installs for an editor like the first crysis and I think he searched the disk for this to no avail. has there been a confirmation for a sandbox editor?

Hey skyydragonn,
there's a way to use the Cryengine 2 Sandbox 2 for free.
When Crysis Warhead was released it had a seperate Multiplayer CD which was called Crysis Wars. Shortly after the release you where able to download as a demo version. Well actually it was the full version but you had to buy the key to activate it. However, what you can do is download that demo here

http://news.bigdownload.com/2008/10/06/download-crysis-wars-trial/

after you installed it download the Patch 1.5 and the Sandbox 2 SDK

http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/crysis/crysis-wars-patch.aspx

Install both, go to your Crysis Wars directory and search for the Sandbox 2 folder. That's it.

If you're looking for the Cryengine 3 Sandbox then you'll have to wait till summer. Then Crytek is going to release a free SDK of the Cryengine 3.

Hope I could help you

Thats what i thought but everywhere I've looked people have said that its not the full editor (aka its missing resources due to it being on the demo) does the SDK fix the lack of resources that accompany the sandbox tools?
and thanks for the infor btw!

My pleasure! Well I also heard of people saying that. I seriously don't know wheather that is the truth because i used that Version of sandbox and i also bought Crysis 1 and used that Sandbox. Made no difference to me. Maybe some verhicles from the Singleplayer Campaign or even Characters from the SP are missing. It's depending on your project what you need. But that is the only way to get the Cryengine 2 for free.
