What is the point to realse the DX11 AFTER launch time ?

they think i play the game once, and than again all because DX 11?

its not smarter to lanuch DX11 from the beginning and not destroy all the experience ?

The thing i worried about is if they included the sandbox with Crysis 2.

Option A: They were probably low on time, so instead of delaying the release they went for how it's now. If they make it a day one release patch, they can still make sure that you get it right away on the release day but have more time on the other hand to work on it.

Option B: They are delaying it to showcase Nvidias new graphics card (Nvidia payed them a lot after all).

it would help sell the cryengine to other studios
they dont wanna use a engine that would be dx9 only for when the next consoles have dx11 and have to be updated

Is the "nvidia payed Crytek" a fact? Or it's just a rumor started by someone?
I have a strong feeling there is NO dx11 coming, not even in the distant future.

It's a fact that Nvidia's marketing team payed Crytek $2 mill during development.

Now, I may be wrong, but it just seems like too much money just to slap an Nvidia logo on the game and optimize it slightly more for their graphics cards. It just seems like they are paying Crytek to keep hush-hush until their 590 is released. Then Crytek will probably send out a patch to everyone after they show C2 off on Nvidia's new card so it will seem like the card is better than anything else on the market (= mo' $$$$).

There is dx11 incomming. It's files are already in the leak (just missing a couple files that are needed to implement it) and the engine can do it. There is absolutely no reason not to. I wouldn't worry about it too much. :)

DX11 just kills every computer. Technically, even if you have a GTX570, you won't be able to push everything to max in DX11. SLI would be the minimum.

Depends on your point of view. At the same quality settings, dx11 will give you a considerable boost in performance. In stalker call of pripyat for example, dx11 (without specific dx11 features enabled) will give you about 30-40% more fps. So no, dx11 will NOT kill your computer.
When you say that, i'm almost certain you refer to Metro 2033 implementation of advanced depth of field. Without it active, the game is perfectly playable on a decent dx11 card. On my 5850 it works more then fine! And the advanced dof option is extremely badly optimized.

The only reason reason crysis 2 wasn't dx11 native is because of consoles that don't support it. And dx11 that will come later (IF it does), will be a superficial addon to crysis 2. Doing the game native dx11 for PC didn't justify the (lots of) extra work needed and even then, only about 20% of PC gamers could take advantage of it. Going the extra mile with crysis 1 was acceptable, since they only developed for PC. But now they did it for 3 platforms, so they had to cut down on a lot of stuff.

Dirt 2 runs above 70fps for me maxed out with dx11 at 1680x1050 with the very first dx11 card (hd5870) and metro runs above 30fps maxed out too. It's not an issue if you have a card powerful enough for real dx11 features (which anything above a gtx560/hd5870 is). Since crysis 2 runs above 60fps all the time, i'd be quite happy to take a 50% performance hit for extra pretties :D

This from the german PCGH site. It's from an article dated today and translated by google.

"But there is a tinge of disappointment for fans of Crysis, and Video: DirectX 11 is the release of Crysis on Thursday not yet supported. Thus, the new first-person shooter at first appears with a DirectX 9 interface. A patch should however be provided. Previously, Electronic Arts, however we do not say how long players have to wait for that. Crytek promises at least an early announcement about Crysis 2 and DirectX 11."

So blegh!

But PCGH also has an estimate on DX11 performance.

"These are the PCGH an estimate for the DirectX 11-mode from which we want to share with you. 40 FPS at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 it is estimated with the following hardware:
CPU: Core i5 / i7 with 3 GHz / 2 X4 Phenom at 3.2 GHz
GPU: Geforce GTX 570 / Radeon HD 6970 with 2GB of VRAM
RAM: 4 GB in Windows 7"

Since I have pretty much exactly that system it brings a little smile back :)

IF they do release it I can only imagine it will be a tacked on bodge job as they've just ported the 360 version to PC (hence Dx9 at launch).

The specs seem a bit intense just to run DX11 as well, I've got more than enough power to run it and built my new gaming rig specifically to play Crysis 2 in dx11 at high FPS so you can understand why i'm so f***ed off with Crytek for taking such a huge dump on PC gamers...

I am able to run Metro 2033 with DX11 at 720p with about 40 fps on max settings...
But with DX10 it runs at about... 35 fps.

DirectX 11 allows a better play back in my opinion.

And i'm only using a GTX 460 SSC.

Maybe The Reason For No DX11 At Launch Has Something To Do With A Legal Dispute/Contract Or Something, Most Likely They Are Still Trying To Finish It, But You Have To Remember, Crytek Isn't A Company That Likes Imperfection, So If They're Going To Put Out DX11 For Crysis 2, You Can Bet They Are Gonna Make Sure It Works Right, And Looks Great :)
