Crysis 2 (EADM) - where is my 64bit version??

Post » Mon Jan 31, 2011 4:41 am

Hi guys,

maybe someone can give me a hint.
Crysis 2 (just like the first game) is supposed to come in 32 and 64bit, correct??

After downloading the Limited Edition from the EA Store (EADM) I was surprised to find only the 32bit version was installed (no bin64 directory).

Here is what I wrote to EA Support:

Hi,

I purchased Crysis 2 Limited Edition from the EA Store.
After installing I noticed to my surprise that only the 32bit version was installed.
How do I get the installer to install the 64bit version?

The Answer was fast but.........

Hi there,

I'm afraid all games are in 32-bit only. There is no 64-bit version of PC games.

That's a funny answer you got from EA. Considering the leaked beta had 64bit builds of both Sandbox 3 and the game. They are intentionally screwing us.

Have the feeling that you're right.

Solve? This can't be "solved", cause 64-bit wasn't scheduled.

Read the forum first, there are lots of threads on 32/64-bit. In short: any version of the release (Steam, EADM, retail) has NO 64-bit exe. As well as it doesn't have quicksave, advanced video settings and plenty of other useful features which Crysis 1 has. Oh but Crysis 2 has dozen of bugs to compensate...

Ultimately this game was rushed.... anyone that had "access" to the leaked version could tell there was still MASSIVE amounts of work to do before release. The leaked version was a "Development Build" from early January, so they had 2 mouths to sort out all the bugs etc. The Dev build had both 64bit versions of the game and sandbox 3, so I can guarantee there will be upcoming patches that include 64bit versions. How long this may take is anyone's guess...

I was surprised as anybody, when I discovered no 64-bit binaries, because of the beta.

But I honestly don't think they're going to release it now. It's not like the environments are that big anway. Doesn't even use more than 1.2GB of RAM.

it's funny because i downloaded the leaked beta to give it a go seeing as i had all ready pre ordered the game, i had less bugs in the beta, IT CAME WITH THE EDITOR, 64 bit was the only version that worked, and i could play with mates on private friend only servers without crashing, also teh DEMO when released was perfect, then the full game is released and it a peice of doo doo, crytek, did you think following in treyarch's foot-steps would make you sell more copies? and no one here can say it is EA's fault seeing as crytek delayed the game for 3 months and had plenty of time to complete it.
