To Cry-Adam How about a couple answers?

How about the reason for excluding dx11 in the retail version day 1?

Or the reason for the lack of advanced graphics options?

Two simple questions that we'd all like to hear the official answers.

I can answer those and I am not even on the team.

1: It was not ready (more time to tweak and get things right. Look at the bright side)
2: They kept it simple. If you want to tweak, then there is the config file to tinker with. (I like the decision actually). If they put all those options in the Settings, most people would be confused.

real answer, not opinion based, no speculation.
because EA, Crytek's boss wanted all 3 platform PC, PS3, Xbox
to be the same, equal, NO favoritism to any 1 format

and I understand that
I hate it, but understand

Don't EA publish DICE games? If EA forces them to make all games equal then BF3 would not be made for PC first with much higher graphical options than that of console counterparts. Same goes with Dragon age 2. They wouldn't have tried to put DX11 in, and they certainly would not of released a high-res texture pack. EA doesn't force developer to make it equal. They just push them to make a good game for each platform. How much effort they put into it is their own agenda. Crytek were probably told to make the game for consoles, but were too lazy to put the same effort they put into consoles into the PC version. They didn't even think about DX11 until Nvidia bribed them to.

Someone released an application that lets you do custom settings on Crysis 2, even higher than the normal settings I believe (hits 40 fps sometimes, but just regular Extreme never went much below 60.)

Its still a great game nonetheless, and it still looks good, even on DX9.

If i wanted a good lookng dx9 game I would've bought it for the 360. Plus that app doesn't let you go beyond the preset "extreme"

I feel the exact same way, no question about it if I knew it was going to be dx9 i would have gotten it for ps3... at least then there wouldnt have been such issues with multiplayer.

the difference between DX9 and DX10 is almost none, on crysis 1 you could force very high settings on DX9 and get almost the same graphics, and cryengine 3 already have some DX10 components already in it, so you can imitate DX10 features on a DX9 game

the main problem is DX11, which adds tessellation and deffered shadows, probably crytek did not finish the DX11 patch in time for the release, or they have a contract with Nvidia who sponsored them

(according to steam only 5%

but DX11 is not important Graphic wise, it doe not increase texture resolution, it does not increase destructibility , it just increases Polygon count on stuff, and with all the amount of stuff (cars, cans, boxes, derby, trees) the tesselation would drop performance drastically, so my guess is that crytek is working on a DX11 patch that does not affect so much at the performance

I do have a DX11 card ( the HD5770 and im planning to get the 560ti crysis 2 edition) and when enabling Dx11 on games like Stalker or metro 2033, i get a big performance drop with little improved visuals (for example the tubes on the gas masks have 24 sides instead of 12)

However instead of DX11, i would like crysis to add more destructibility to crysis 2
