They're not "paid," but they are influenced by corporate monsters like EA and Activision. There's no way a mainstream gaming site will piss off a titan of the Industry like either of those 2 without damn good reason. If IGN gives Crysis on PC the score it deserves, they risk alienating their EA connections (who could just as easily shine on Gamespot as IGN. one gaming site is as good as another for early info and exclusive interviews, etc).
I'm just saying that with games like Black Ops and Crysis 2, it's gotten so blatant that they might as well not even write the review anymore. Just give the game a 9.0 and a gold star, insist that we buy it, and save me the trouble of reading 8 paragraphs of ****.
