A wise quote from a developer

Post » Sun Jan 30, 2011 11:33 pm

Raminator, the lead developer of Black Mesa Source once said:

"No matter what we do, people are going to complain, so it makes the most sense to do nothing. We can't keep everyone happy, and it's a waste of development time to even try, especially at this late stage. We have more important things to do."

Contextual clarification: He's talking about keeping constant news updates

While i do admire that quote it does not apply in this situation. Crytek straight up lied! which is the issue we are facing.

Black Mesa Source is a free community mod.
I paid £26.95 for Crysis 2 and it doesn't work.
Me and the rest of EA's paying customers deserve better.

I also think its wrong to screw someone sooooo much and then bringing up a quote like this. you cant just do something that pisses off to what seems to be most of the active community and say, "oh well, you cant please everyone." that is like another spit in the face.

I have to agree with the comments here. With a mod you're not really out to please everyone, or even a majority of players. You just want to make something you think is awesome. But with a full game, you should be aiming to please the majority of your users.

That said, I think Crytek handled this as best they could. Really, this is not the first time a game has come out and hundreds of people complained about how disappointed they were (and I bet a lot of the complainers are pirates trying to justify their actions anyway).

They haven't even done anything to fix the multiplayer bugs which existed since the demo. I think Crytek's staff should stop staring at this quote all day to make themselves feel better. It's making them lazy!

Don't just accept failure if you saw it ahead. There never a good reason for being such a screw-up.

I always said Black Mesa Source was best forgotten about, since it'll never come out anyway.

The crazy thing about all this is how were kept in the dark, we all paid for this game and would think we should have some sort of rights to be informed on wether dx 11 and improvements are coming or not. Hate to say it but im really starting to question the business practices of these companies nowadays. I like the game, not as much as the first crysis or warhead but its still great game, will only get better if its moddable and if the fixes come like they did for the first one.
