Can somebody please explain me what the whole idea of blur is in the first place? I really don't get it.
I can understand that if you have a (in-game) movie you want to have some depth of field to create the focus on a specific place and there blur can help but besides that (so really in-game playtime) I do not get it. Mostly I disable blur or set it at the lowest setting.
The depth of field however does not work in games because it is not possible to focus me on one specific thing since the difference is that I'm in control in a game so I can look wherever I want.
You first try to make a game have great graphics and then you destroy them again with blur.
The idea that when you move fast your eyes can't see things sharp is also a nonsense reason because if I move fast in game my eyes indeed can't registrate everything well. No blur needed for that, blur only makes it less realistic.
The only in-game time I can see use of blur is when using stuff like binoculars.
So is there something about blur that I’m missing?
BTW: Why do less fps make more blur?
