What happened to the POWER MELEE in MP?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 10:05 am

Was it because the melee system was changed? If so, we can thank ourselves the community complaining for making this happen. I for one didn't want it removed cause I thought it was used to OHK Armored opponents. Is their any way you could bring it back as a One Hit Kill melee Crytek? Right now I don't know how many hits its takes to put someone down with or without Armor. I don't want to have a boxing match with the enemy, I want to kill quickly and move on. 2 hit melee, 1 hit power melee. 3 hit melee if Armor is on. Please Crytek, if anything, I really would like the 1 Hit Power Melee back...

Putting I-win-instantly buttons is a bad idea. And it wont be a boxing match because you have a gun. Use it.

I do use the gun most of the time, but when situations arise where I have to melee, I will. I'm just a little upset Crytek removed the power melee. That could have been OHK seeing as you have to charge it before punching. Isn't anyone else just a little sad they removed the power melee in multiplayer. And please, no more stupid comments like the one who posted.

I think you should take your own advice... OHK melee is the dumbest thing that could be introduced to C2. It ruins games.... look at CoD. It is simply stupid.

So I guess all these people who say 1 hit melee don't really care that POWER Melee is gone. Hopefully no one else complains about anything else cause Crytek will just whined up removing it. I also specifically said 2 hit melee 1 hit power melee. Either get back on hooked on phonics or get some reading glasses...

Crytek Please, I need to know the reason why Power Melee was removed from MP. Also for the PROXIMITY ALARM, does it still have the beeping sound or was that also removed for the status indicator that shows on the corner where the map is? I have the PS3 version but played both demo's. 360 had chime, PS3 didn't.

I was not aware that it was removed from MP, but then again I didn't pay much attention in the demo because MP isn't what I'm getting it for. Because I know power melee and power throw are both in the single player. Press and hold the melee button until you hear a low digital kind of beep noise then let go.

I don't know if this is anything but in the demo, if you were in armor mode and bashed someone, it would make the strength punch sound from Crysis 1. I didn't test it though so I don't know if there is any damage difference.

Well first off I agree OHK is rediculous and wouldn't even make sense in a game like crysis 2's MP. The 2HK is also rediculous I mean most people here are just whining, whining and whining some more I can't kill this guy, I can't go on my usual 10 kill streak. None of those people take the time to realize your character is in a metal suit! Not just clothe and on top of that has nano machines coursing through the suit that repair and the person inside it from any sustained damage. I mean seriously this game is leaning towards cyborg cod.

It shouldnt be a OHK instantly, but it should be as soon as the enemy is hurt. It is really quite annoying if you go in for the knife instead of reloading and then you die just because the other guy has quick reload on or something and you cant smack him quick enough. Landing 2 smacks is slower than a reload and this is quite annoying. I am not saying it should definately be changed, I might get used to it ;-) And it can also turn out to be good if you are the meleed person, that has to defend themselves.

power melee has never been part of multplayer not even in the leaked beta but it is in the singleplayer.

the only instant kill you can do is the takedown which requires you to be stealth and also behind your enemy.

Another instant-kill besides the stealth-kill? Please not!

OHK melee definitely has its place within the FPS genre, as FPS games have evolved over time and adapted to include it. However, in THIS game, OHK melee is a BAD idea. I say this because you have super menouverable players who can get pretty much anywhere across the map while invisible, it is simply too easy to get to people for the insta-kill

EDIT: This is not to discount the assassination, which imo is still fair play.

Keep it as it is please. I would prefer not getting smashed in the face once to die, even with maximum armor on. Otherwise we'll just have people jumping, dodging, and sprinting to melee you instead of shooting.
OHK is way too overpowered.

..In this game.

The concept of OHK if absolutely FINE in many shooters, and is balanced by the distance needed to achieve it. It's harder to get than a sniper rifle OHK because of the necessity to actually be in the mix; although I would prefer that the CoD knife didn't have auto aim, and instead had a consistent range, or that knives had to be drawn as in KZ2 to benefit from the OHK.
