Is there ANY new info on the DX11 patch?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 2:46 am

I'm heavily debating on whether I should go get the game now, or wait for the DX11 patch. Since release have there been any new official statements regarding DX11?

I'm personally going to wait til after the dx 11 patch and then some reviews for the patch. I LOVED crysis 1 & warhead, I ran both those games on dx 10 and on high/very high with 2x or 4x AA. I'm still waiting on the next big game that will make my PC sweat. The current crysis 2 is not it. BFBC2 kind of makes my PC stressed but I'll wait to see how BF3 is :3

These mean that dx 11 is in the game. But the binaries are still missing. The actual code the game engine uses to display dx 11 are still missing. I hope this makes sense.

Dx11 is pretty unecessary.

Crysis 2 is obviously not build from the ground up with Dx11.. only if this would be the case then Dx11 features such as tessalation can heavily increase the optical quality of the game. Expect the same improvements as with Metro 2033 or Dragon Age 2.. almost none.

My hopes are for the DX10 fallback to bring a hell lot of volumetric effects that are not in the Dx9 version.

dx10 is a subset of dx11. There in using dx10 only effect you will get a better performance because of apis are more optimized. So there wont be a dx10 exe but only a dx11 exe and depending on your card dx10 or 11 might be activated

I buy it on Steam and I'm installing, if you are the base of DX11 is that DX11 will have, and Crytek does his duties well, if not even support DX11 is because they want to do a good job that we leave a good taste, I sure, that if the patch comes out this week DX11 will come out soon

No they dont... they just contain the latest driver updates for DirectX. That doesn't mean the game uses DirectX 11.

That is what I've been hoping for all along as well. DX9 to DX10 is quite a huge jump - DX10 to DX11 not so much. DX11 support will mean fully implemented DX10 as a result. That's all I'm looking for. DX9 is pathetic for this scale of a game.

DX9 was pretty special when the ATI 9800 Pro came out almost a decade ago. There's no reason for a game with a powerhouse of a title such as Crysis 2 to be showcasing such old defunct tech.

Oh yeah. The consoles are nearly a decade old. That's why.
