*Crytek : wait, what is this? why are there 800,000 people online*
*Crytek : .....*
*Crytek Employee : Sir, i think it's because we did not bother placing any kind of protection on the PC version of the game*

I suspect that is just retail purchases and not downloads of the game on services like steam and such though right? Most PC games are purchased via download so I wonder if Crytek will release official numbers.

Yes, the figures do not include any digital download sales.

OR it could be because the game looks great on xbox and the multiplayer works, the MP works on PS3 but the game framerate dips a LOT, and the PC version is a complete F-UP and letdown at the same time. I took my copy back because I never once was able to log on to MP servers, the graphics glitch all over the place in crossfire and framerate is measly 35-60fps with one card, the textures are horrendous even compared to Crysis1. I got it for xbox instead cuz it looks better on a $200 console than a $3000 PC. No wonder sales figures are in the dump.

MP works fine now (for me anyway) but I know what you are talking about. It was broken up until this weekend. Can't comment on crossfire as I only have an nvidia 360m but saw reports which svcks but I'm fairly certain 360 does not look better than PC version lol but also PC MP supports 8v8 console is only 6v6.

Overall it really does. Probably makes a diff that I play xbox on a 50" screen tho lol
I just took the game back saturday and MP still wouldn't even let me log on to servers.

Seeing as how SO many people have had issues tho, they are telling all their friends, like I am, not to get the PC version for at least a few months. But it's a big success on xbox especially to run such graphics on a 5yr old console. But as I said, comparing it to Cry1 with custom HDR lighting and even before foliage&texture mods Crysis 2 is a lame duck graphically for PC. Lighting doesn't make up for this fact. The water looks the same although I will say the ripple effect and reflections are a big improvement but that's on the xbox version as well.

I'll buy the PC version again if/when they release a highres texture pack(like they had to do for Dragon Age 2), and/or release DX11 patch

On steam today's peak is at 7927 players, wich only accounts for those that bought it through steam and it's twice as much as Homefront already wich uses steamworks. There's a hell of a lot more that bought it via retail, ea store and other digital download sites.

So were in for some dozen thousand players total. However the game just launched, give it a month or two and we'll be lucky to see 1/3 of those still playing it.

BS does it look better on 360, and on a 50'' screen.. No. The game runs at a resolution of 1280×720 on 360. You must sit REALLY far back from the TV.

It did pretty well on Steam, that I can tell. It was the past few weeks always in the top-10-weekly-sales (usually 6) and currently has about 10k people playing (only Steam-version counting), which is, for a game which offers steam only optional, a nice accomplishment.

I suspect the PC version will sell really well, because most PC gamers bought it via pre-order or in good faith based on the first game.
I wont make that mistake again. This is just a woeful console port, and no updates or patches will change that.

Once the PC sales tail off, Crytek will just blame piracy instead of the game.

Of course one has to wonder...did someone "steal" it or was it allowed to be "stolen" to give an excuse for a game they knew would cause so much of an issue. Thats just my suspicious mind at work and there is no fact to support this wild idea...

Yeah there's no real difference other than a bit of AA between xbox and PC for this game. So playing on a bigger more beautiful 600hz tv IS more impressive than playing a game on a $3000 PC that looks like it's 4 years old. This is NOT the new graphical benchmark by any means. Crysis1 is still the #1 benchmark, and I don't even know if DX11 AND a highres texture pack would change that.

I brought my copy back and got a refund, and IF I do buy it again, it will be used so EA won't get sales numbers from me!
