I hear in Crysis 2: Armageddon, the textures will be 1/8 the size to fit on the Nintendo 3DS.

This means one thing. Crysis 2 runs much smoother than Crysis 1 did. The textures are overall very good not the sharpest, but solid.

You could lower the resolution of the textures in Crysis 1, if you wanted.

Crysis 2 runs smoother because it can use 3 CPU cores instead of 2 cores, which is all that Crysis 1 can use. Also, Crysis 2 has no physics, no big draw distance and not many objects and no huge areas. Hardly on the same playing field to say whether CE3 runs faster than CE2, when they're not even doing the same thing?

In other words, it doesn't run better because of the low res textures.

No, it runs better because it was optimized to fit into Xbox memory.

If you took CryEngine 3 and actually made a PC game with it you'd be seeing people melting their rigs like the first game did and like far cry did. But the problem is , we'll never see what the engine can really do until someone makes a PC game on it.

And in other words too, it runs better because it was stripped of half the features that were present in Crysis 1 so consoles can handle it. Warhead was truly optmized, this game is just dumbed down.

Yeah, I wasn't actually saying that CE3 isn't capable of doing those things. I just meant that they stripped that away from this game.

I'm sure CE3 is superior to CE2. But I'm just saying that we can't just turn round and say that without seeing CE3 do some of the maps that CE2 had to do.
