Crysis 1 remains technically best looking FPS on PC.

My favorite (and trusted) Pc mag has released two very informative reviews/opinions for Crysis 2 and sum up some technical flaws in Crysis 2.
To summarize it up: technically Crysis 1 cant be cracked by its successor,
C2 is more of a mass market product and not as individual as the original Crysis but its nonetheless a really good FPS.

Some bad things about Crysis 2:

- No customizable crosshair
- crawling roaches for ex. are not more than flat 2d textures --- no comparison to all the animals in Crysis 1 ( my loved turtles)
- really butt ugly trees and poor vegetation.... not even close to the beautyfull palm trees and jungles in Crysis1.
- buttugly water with flat trash(litter) textures on it ... The water in Crysis 1 was the most beautyfull thing ive ever seen in a videogame.
- Some extremely low res textures ( and yes they are obtrusively eyecatching sometimes) and repeating textures... most textures in Crysis 1 differ a lot and most of them were extremely detailed.
- The physics are nowhere near as good as in Crysis 1... you will never experience something like.. throw grenade under jeep... explosionwave smashes Korean soldier into hut... the hut and the whole interior collapse while the jeep smashes into the whole mess.. Crysis 2 is like kicking cars around..see surfaces get shotholes.. end of physicseffects ingame.
- backgrounds are mostly simple bitmap wallpapers
- Some bodyparts like the knees of the soldiers look like they used only 3 polygons without a texture.

Im not angry but:
Cavat Yerli: Pc players will get the "better" Crysis 2,; Crysis 2 is in every way superior to Crysis 1;

In fairness, it's a different type of tree.

I'm just hoping that the game can have scalable DLC. Where they can release DLC that has visually better environments (and if it's DLC it must have tessellated environments IMO) in which to MP and some extra SP levels of higher visual quality.

That would hook me back into gaming potentially before I have lost interest in playing old games as well as in buying new ones.

Everything in your post is incorrect. Sorry. Crysis 2 graphics and technical prowess >>> Crysis 1.

Are you kidding me? It was only two days ago that PS3 owners were ranting like beserkers about the PS3 version not looking as good as the 360 and they couldn't even seem to construct a sentence that didn't include multiple profanities. Hell they even started encouraging people to pirate the game and posted multiple direct download links on the thread. That thread had a profanity in the title I might add and it was directed at Crytek.

What makes that even more ridiculous is that I read an article today that was saying PC owners weren't impressed with Crysis 2 and that they will probably now threaten to download the game instead of buy it or use that as an excuse. At which point PS3 users had already done it.

The only difference is that we know what we are talking about. You hear terms like parallax occlusion from us. But so what console guys don't know the lingo but they're still as picky as anybody reasonably, or unreasonably, could be on a 6 year old console.

Slightest bit of controversy over visuals and you guys are off to the lens of truth looking at the game through a magnifying glass and you say we are salty about graphics. WTF?

Great job being overly defensive. A good response would be "we normally spend a lot of time and money making our machines run faster in order play these games. If the games don't meet our expectations, it feels like we wasted all that effort for very little gain" or, something like that.

LOL , i should save your comment as signature :)

because we CAN, and console players CAN NOT

a true story : about a month ago i found a fully functional 360 in the dumpster with cables, controller, the only thing was missing is the harddrive

i found many things in the trash in my life, that xbox was by far not the most valuable item... but YET i have to find a working PC that could run any crysis on max settings... for some reason no one wants to toss those out ;) i wonder why

in other words you buying a 360, your not triving to get or see perfection , you goal is top get something mediocre every one else has, because under those people that considered being cool, its also easy you dont need to think or do anything the thing is cheap and they only rip you off later little by little , what you dont mind because that way you wont have to invest a lot of money upfront

but a PC is something you like to see BRRRRR, like a nice car - old , new , custom or not, you want those tires to smoke, it makes you feel good

a console is more like a toaster, they might come in different colors, but in the end every slice of toast is the same ;)

If anything, I miss having an alternate voice set for the Nanosuit's computer. The male voiceover is so grating.

@MONTYSMASH

No offense.. but you dont have a clue about what youre sayin.
The Pc games Hardware guys have taken each game apart and anolysed them bit by bit.
These guys are professionals when it comes to hardware and Pcgaming ( engines , technologies etc.) and they are not anti Crytek.
The differences are existing and they are remarkable. If you dont want to believe it thats your personal thing.
But i would recommend you to say that these articles are incorrect... because experienced Gamers know.. they are not.
