That data does not include digital downloads through the EADM or Steam, which will likely make up at least a plurality, if not a majority of the PC purchases.

Great game, but i cant help but feel abandoned. This looks like the beginning of the end for PC gaming.

You keep thinking that. You think an equal quality game's gonna sell better on PC? You're mad.

Well for reference lets say they sold 1 million copies.

580,000 copies on XBOX
270,000 copies on PS3
140,000 copies on PC

If say half the PC sales are not included from EADM and Steam, making the total 280,000.

This also makes the total number of sales: 1,140,000

So with digital downloads the ratio would be:

50.9% XBOX 360
23.7% PS3
24.6% PC.

Pretty decent.

Probably because Crytek failed to support the game on PC properly. They've only shown Xbox footage, Xbox had tons of demos and marketing.
Crysis 2 has fairly low requirements and is not a good game to compare benchmarks with. Could be a reason for low sales. People wanting to test out DirectX 11 were disappointed too.

Besides, these are only the Retail UK sales. They do in no way indicate the total amount of copies sold and global platform share, as most PC gamers buy games digitally through eg. Steam or Direct2Drive.

Back to topic, did they expect high sales for PC? They have obviously scared enthusiasts away by oversimplifying the game, and it certainly doesn't help that it doesn't work properly with multi-gpu setups (ironic though that they advertised for nVidia SLi for Crysis 1, huh?) and gives artifacts, and it is not a proper benchmark to test graphics cards on, as it has fairly low requirements.

Also don't forget that the console market is often larger on FPS games than on PC.

Ultimately what is the point of the thread? It's not like PC copies sold so poorly that it's not even worth it to produce the box.

Look at Bad Company 2, that's a console game they released on the PC and it sold more than 360 + PS3 combined.

There's plenty of money in the PC platform, if they make a PC game for us. BC2 had the Battlefield name attached wich carried a lot of weight, but Crysis had the same weight to it as well. The first ones only sold ~4.5 Million copies so it's not excuse.

With PC specific features, in other words not dumbed down.

EDIT: That and the fact Activision screwed the pooch with MW2 for multiplayer gaming, a lot of weight was put behind BFBC2 in the community.

Not all of us bought the PC version at day 1.
I did and honestly, I wish I would have waited. After finishing the SP campaign on Post Human in under 5 hours (not counting the endless cutscenes with Gould blabbering or pressing [Space] to use the defibrillator...) I think the game is not worth my money.

And I am not talking about the disaster Crysis became in favour of the console gamer - with tube like levels, scaled down graphics, a messed up suit and annoying messages like "press X to do this" and "press Y to do that".

I could not play with 2 GPUs since the texture flickering is insane, I had to finish the game without updating my suit because the game kept setting my nanos to zero and the MP, if you can connect anyway, is a big mess. More so since there is no anti-cheat system and pirates can play for free.

If I want to buy a new game I usually wait a couple of days after release to check for first impressions, then I buy. And in case a game is such a disaster like Crysis 2 is, with forums overflowing with complains, I will not buy it. My mistake I ignored my own principles this time, Crytek fanboy that I was.
So I really think it is Cryteks very own fault if the PC version is not selling.

those percentages do not count Steam, D2D, and online digital downloads, only retail sales. Thus - Steam sales are FN HUGE, the highest selling market for PC games, that percentage is much larger than it appears - apperantly online digital sales don't get added til later due to waiting on trending reports?

Ignorance. For you guys to call Crysis 2 crap on PC and not support Crytek....ahh ****, I made thread on why you should support Crytek. Go **** read it, I'm tired of repeating the same **** again and again proving how Crytek still cares about PC.
