Crysis 2 (PS3) - Glitch-tastic Edition!!

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 10:09 pm

I was very hyped about this game and thanks to an endless stream of glitches that excitement has been deflated. Here is a plentiful list of fun-fudging glitches I've come across, or maybe this is a clever way for EA to introduce their new Glitch-tastic Edition! This should help improve first day sales. While you're at it EA, you should send us directions to the nearest Gamestop, because if this is the way its going to be from now on I'll just wait a month or so later when there is a working version for 5 dollars less.

Glitch-tastic Edition features:

Glitch 1. There very first glitch I encountered was when I started up Crysis 2 on my PS3, YAY! The screen turned black and my PS3 wouldn't even shut off. This is actually the first time in 2 1/2 years this has happened. Crytek should be honored to accomplish something unique! This I am assuming is a "power/fun saving" feature implemented into Crysis 2.

Glitch 2. After dying an awesome nanosuity death at one of the first of many "armed blockade" sections, I re-loaded at a checkpoint only to be greated by soldiers stuck in a silly pose. They looked as if they had been frozen in a chicken dance ritual. I also noticed in the same section that when a helicopter had flown by the shadow it created on a building seemed to animate like a slide show. Seriously. A slide show. I could count the three frames of animation as the shadow "moved" along the building. This happened a few times throught my playthrough, but I won't say when, that would ruin the feeling of discovery.

Glitch 3. Several times I noticed that the AI did not respond to my presence. I know Alcatraz is easily an ignorable, silent, faceless, uninteresting video game character, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have feelings. Oh but wait! When I'm cloaked suddenly everyone within 5 feet of me is aware of my presence!!!! I think the only soldier that didn't shoot at me while I was "invisible" was in North Korea. Even then I'm sure I heard him say "what was that!" I am astonished how the CELL enemies have decided to take up arobics in the middle of battle, because so many of them have chosen to run in place rather than shoot me. Priorities soldiers!!

Glitch 4. I didn't know the nano suit was soooooo badass it could literally push enemies through concrete columns!!! Alive no less!!! Actually no. Enemies actually have the power to osmose-as-ize into the pavement or any SOLID barrier. There are collision detection problems all over this game, but hey most of the time it was an improvement for the groan inducing AI.

Glitch 5. The gun that turns invisible by itself! Holy crap! Won't that confuse the enemy, "Hey Bob, why is that guy pretending to hold a gun in his hand? Lets go ask him!" Then BAM! There's your new nanosuit ability.

. . . I could go on like this. This is a linar game Crytek. This isn't a open world game with hundreds of square miles to test. All this crap would be hilarious if I hadn't spent 65 dollars of my hard earned money to buy a WORKING product! Thanks guys, maybe next time you'll release something when it's ready and spend less time bragging and d*ck waving and more time play testing. If you don't fix this pronto I'll make sure as many people as possible will NEVER buy your games 1st day :D

All the best

You are one of the most unthankful little pieces of **** on this forum. We should appreciate all the hard work that Crytek put into this fantastic game. People like you are slowing down their sales and in no time, they will be shut down, and then who are we gonna be left with? Nobody.

First of all, thankful for what? It's their JOB to release a WORKING game! I'm "thanking" them by buying Crysis 2 (day 1 no less) even after EA restricted reviews with a BS embargo, probably out of fear of negative reviews. These glitches are OBVIOUS and was not fixed because they did not want to push back the release date. EA or Crytek figured they'll just patch it later. F- that. I bought a working game not a fixer-upper. Ok fine. . . that, or half of their QA people called in sick for the past year.

I can think of plenty of game studios who have released AAA games with little or no fun flattening glitches and thats just on the PS3! Here is two off the top of my head Naughty Dog and Guerilla, both of which have created some of the most beautiful games to date. Here are some others: Bioware, id, Epic, Dice. . . "we" will be fine.

I know the guys at Crytek are hardworkers and are good people, THAT IS WHY I AM PISSED. They know better than this. So get off your knees, Crytek and co. are going to be fine without your brown-nosing.

I am more fustrated at EA than Crytek really. Either way they won't listen. I was really looking forward to this game, hence my disappointment. I know plenty of other people feel the same way, but this is my way of "dealing" with it. Maybe someone at Crytek will read these posts and get the lead out and fix this.

My problem isn't that it's a bad game really. Without the glitches its great, but that is not the case. What bothers me is that they released this knowing about these problems. There is no way they didn't. If a person can play ONCE the through a game and encounter these many bugs than Crytek's QA knows about this and said and did nothing.

I can deal with the supposed underperformace of the PS3 version. Fine. I don't know if it's true, don't care. They just can't expect us to accept this unfinished version.

I have the PS3 version and feel that you've either been really unlucky. My experience with the game has been almost totally positive, but I can feel that there are some bugs in it, so what you write here is plausible even though I've had the fortune not to have experienced these bugs (yet?).

Sorry to hear all those things happened. Although I haven't noticed funny poses like you had, the AI for me has on occassion just continued to run up agaist a wall.

But you should really add all the bugs you are encountering to the PS3 Bug thread in the PS3 section so the Crytek has them all in one place:

http://www.gamesas.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=11064

The big thing that has happened to me so far was that after I finished my first "sitting" with single player and returning to it later using the Resume Game option in the menu, everytime time I switch weapons a very blurry portion of the weapon's stat graph appears behind my energy bar.

Was the attitude really necessary? You're acting like if Crytek killed your hamster or some ****, take it easy. Next time post up the technical issues and leave out the unnecessary hostility. If you don't like what Crytek has to offer then sell the game and be done with it, problem solved.

You're thankful when someone does what you ask, not when you PAY THEM TO DO WHAT YOU ASK. Idiot.

"People like you are slowing down their sales! How dare you complain about frequent, insane glitches that should have been noticed and fixed since the debugging versions?"

Sorry to hear you've been having problems. I played the PS3 version myself and have not experienced any of the ones you mentioned. I'll pass this feedback along to the team and we'll see if there's anything that can be done about it - thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Thanks for the reply Tom...everyone knows you can't make anyone happy but this is business. 60 bucks is 60 bucks...people deserve timely responses and that will go along way to curbing some of the rants as well as retaining customers such as myself who understand the issues related to a release of this scope and are willing to bear with you guys as you work on them. Just let us know you do know about things and are working on them. I understand the "Company lines" etc...but there's absolutely no way you or anyone else has played Crysis 2 and not run into the same bugs bugging everyone else. No shot. The bugs and glitches are fragrant fouls but the game isn't over, we're in the first quarter. If i can get a patch by halftime I'll be ok and probably buy the next game as this one minus the fragrant fouls...is one for the ages.
