So now that I finished Crysis 2...

I decided to go back and play a REAL PC game, and fired up crysis warhead. First thing I did was slap an assault scope on my shotgun, and attach a laser sight and reflex sight on my smg. Then I used maximum speed to rocket through the dense jungle and blast Koreans, using speed then switching to strength mode to jump over them and shoot them in midair, while aiming down sights, mind you. God did that feel awesome. Then there was only a few left, and I grabbed one by the neck while shooting others, making me feel like a total badass again. Once I was done dispatching enemies, I ran around the large environment taking in the beauty and physics. I also picked up a mouse and threw it. It made me sad though, because we may never see a game as good as the first two crysis games again, at least not for a long time.

A console port is only bad when the hardware difference is great. By 2013 we'll have next gen consoles which should be able to raqe Crysis 1 and Warhead at 1920 x 1080.

And you'll see epic games like that :) .

And then the PC will have graphics a generation ahead of those consoles and we will be right back in the same boat as we are today.

Hey as long as we keep advancing :)

No? Consoles are actually a bit ahead of the curve for 6 months and on par with PC hardware for a year before huge advances start to arise on the PC end.

I remember when I first got my 360 and I was blown away by Perfect Dark Zero's graphics. Now, even budget PC titles look better than that. Judging by the advancement of PC hardware since the last gen of consoles, to make a console with equal hardware would likely cost upwards of $700-800. I think the stagnation this gen may've actually really imbalanced things.

Well on release the 7800GTX was priced at $500 too and the PS3 was at $700. Did people still buy it? Hell yeah.

The only problem I see is fomr factor and power consumption, butI guess by the time nVidia Kepler comes around on 28nm dies some of that should be solved.

Or we could all stop worrying about graphics (which are getting damn near photorealistic), and go back to things like...oh i don't know, gameplay, storyline, pushing the envelope in a stagnated genre?

But we are doing that.

Games like Minecraft (haters gonna hate), Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Total War: Shogun 2 and others are pushing the envelope in everything you mentioned. Consoles are stagnating, the PC is doing pretty well.

It's ironic that Crysis 2, of all games, would avoid changing the boundaries like its predecessor did.
