Bulletstorm is the better game, shockingly

Post » Thu Jun 02, 2011 10:49 pm

I played Far Cry, Crysis, Warhead and now I've played the first few levels of Crysis 2.

The first three were epic.

I am already bored and annoyed with Crysis 2, it just isn't engaging at all. And the music? They overpaid Zimmer.

The mouse is sluggish, the enemies hard to see, the suit isn't as good as the original. And I had to edit system.cfg to even get it playable.

The plot and characters lack continuity. The Ceph went from electric lifeforms in exosuits to oversized jellied hominids in armor? 30 seconds of Prophet is the link to the first? What the hell happened to Nomad? This reminds me of the catastrophe that was the 3rd Aliens movie, where only the least likeable character remained in the series since the rest were killed of in the first 30 seconds.

But the real indictment is the missed expectation. I'm not the only one. Metacritic 89???

I've played Bulletstorm's campaign twice now. Great game, great gameplay innovations, plot was epic, humor fantastic.

"A sudden plunge in a sullen swell, 10 fathoms deep on the road to hell". Grayson might as well have been describing this middling console port. It's not a bad game. It's just not exceptional. I will complete it, just to get my money's worth, but I definitely overpaid. I will not be recommending this.

Frankly, I think this is on a par with, and perhaps even worse than, COD BLOPS and MW2.

For that, MW is definitely a better game.

Oh well, here's hoping that Duke and HL2 EP3 save the genre.

Uh... Bulletstorm svcked. And that's coming from someone who loves gratified violence and random, excessive cursing. I mean yeah, sure, it was hilarious the first time through, but by the end it got horribly boring, plus you had already seen pretty much every skill kill.

Not defending Crysis 2 here, just pointing out that Bulletstrom svcks balls. It's like Serious Sam, only without the surreal humor, literal hordes of enemies, red sneakers and Health Packs.

They even ripped off Sam's cannon, ffs.

It does get an assload of bonus points for the Giant Robot RC Lizard level, though, so there's that.

How can you even compare them two? O_o

Totally different games that should never be put on the same bus, one is shoot'm up and other is Military FPS.

And if you going to go and talk about continuity you should replay BulletStrom and see how much that there is in there.

In my mind, they're both Sci-Fi FPS with a strong dramatic plot. Obviously one is an action-comedy, whereas the other is military-action. Both are also console ports, and a "shocking" part for me is that Bulletstorm's port is more competent (mouse lag, graphics options, etc.). Another shock is that the Crysis 2 plot is less dramatically engaging. I don't blame Morgan (the author) for that, it's more the way it's integrated into the game.

Atleast Crysis 2 supports anything else but 16:9 aspect ration.. Hate letterbars.

Zimmer only did one or two tracks for the game. The soundtrack is by Borislav Slavov and it is absolutely dog gamn amazing, its damn near comparable to masterpiece soundtracks like the MGS series. No idea what you′re talking about.

LOL at Bulletstorm being compared to Crysis.. Seriously that **** is hilarious.

Bulletstorm gets old SO fast, has no online multiplayer and has excessive use of the word 'dike' to the point that it's not even funny anymore.

Try turning up your mouse sensitivity. Always helps me with games that feel sluggish on default settings.

Here's my impression of the OP, "In one hand I have an apple, in the other an orange, let us compare them..."

Core gameplay's the same: use gun to shoot people, pick up guns from the ground, hide to regen, use gear (leash or nanosuit) to kill enemies.

By your logic, I couldn't compare Bulletstorm to Serious Sam, because Bulletstorm has the energy leash, swearing and RC Lizard, while in Sam you can carry all your weapons at once.

The apples vs oranges argument only works when someone's comparing genres.

If you really like Bulletstorm, you must have a bad sense of humor.
Plus Bulletstorm is just an arcade game.

Obviously, since we're talking about the medium of interactive games, you should be able to understand that they're not even in the same sub-genre within FPS games, right?

Every book is the same.. it has words in it!

so lets compare a novel to kids game its all the same! Its written on paper.

Or, y'know, not compare a bloody romance novel (RTS) with a thriller (FPS), because all thrillers are the same, regardless of the perspective they're written from, or the style they're written in. Which goes for the romance novels too.

Crysis and bulletstorm are different. One is Shootem up other is not.

You can compare what ever you want but it wont make sense to compare this two in any case.
