Personally, Crysis 1 looked phenomenal to me, but I quickly lost interest as I realized it played with a sack of bricks on its back. The multiplayer was exactly the same, worse even, with all the imbalances. Crysis 2 is really fun. Sure, it may not be a huge technological step forwards, but Crytek told us this--the company is not focused on choking your GTX580s, but on providing a solid product that looks and plays a little better than anything else out there at the moment.
While they may not have succeeded, what with all the bugs and texture complaints, but overall I believe they did quite well, and I think the game deserves to be successful. In no time we'll see mods to improve your textures, and patches to fix the bugs. We've already been told a DX11 patch is in the future. This game needs a little time to sort out its target audience, which unfortunately does not necessarily include the hardcoe Crysis 1 fans that dominate these forums.
