Did Crytek fail PC on purpose?

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 4:39 am

just wondering ... did they do this on purpose. Crytek knows how to make an online game. I feel that they not only sold out but self destruted their pc development to have an excuse to go wholey console.

i think this whole thing was a premeditated act for money and destroy thier PC community.

just a thought

Omg... Off cause they didn't do that. You must be crazy even thinking that.. Why would a company that loves their franchise and game wanna make a bad PC port ?
Yes there is a bunch of problems with Crysis 2 on PC right now. But It will most likely get solved. Just be patient. Developing such a complex game is hard and it takes time.

Counter-Strike shows that if you make a game where players can make their own maps and game types, you have a game that will last a very... very long time. Highly customizable online play makes people happy.

I don't believe they messed it up on purpose. I believe their goal was to make the best looking console game to show that it can be done. Once that was finished, the release date was rushed, leaving the PC version lackluster. I only hope that they can fix all the problems in the game, and make the PC version more like a PC version.

Time will tell.

Be patient? For what? I preordered and played most of the game. They have my money, and I have an Xbox game. What can they do? If they release a patch at this point I will play the game again, but really. It's rediculous that anyone at this point should feel they need to be patient. I was patient waiting for the game to be released. Very patient. See where that got me?

They destroyed it so PC sales would be low and they can go blame it on piracy. True story, Crysis 2 sales are only 14% on PC and 86% on consoles. http://www.destructoid.com/crysis-2-huge-success-xbox-360-dominates-sales-197396.phtml

Sigh, you're dumb. That doesnt include digital sales... AKA the method most PC gamers use to buy games.

It's also looking only at UK sales charts.

I'm glad you don't own a company

business 101
Rule number 1

Don't throw sales away

Plus it doesn't stack up to the PC version being the best version, the bugs in the PC version are exactly the same as the other 2 target platforms (server conection, lost upgrades)

They are equally broken in technical terms, but the pc version doesn't have to put up with sub 30fps at 1152x720 resolution on the 360 and 1024x720 on the PS3

After the first start and the Day 0 Patch i felt like: "Wow that looks awesome." Playing the levels again, looking for the hidden extras I more and more get the feeling like: "Nice, but that's not what it should look like." I mean, Crysis started on PC as a Benchmark, Crysis 2 just feels like a counter part to ModernWarfare 2 or (insert random console shooter here). Not only graphics but also gameplay and time. It took me over 12 hours to finish Crysis on normal difficulty, and even longer on the higher settings. But C2 is done in about 7 and a half without rushing through every level.
Seriously: A PC can do more and just leaving this power unused, because a console doesn't have makes me sad. My rig is 2 years old, but I was surprised that it can handle C2 on Extreme settings at nearly HD resolution. I know a game is more than just the graphics, but I would rather take low story than low graphics.

Funny detail: the side kick asks "want a dumbed down version?" at his lab in 'lab rat'. I'd think it was just a funny coincidence considering the whining and moaning (sadly they do have a point), if the pc version release wasn't more of a port as a "multi-platform" and a "pc version" than any honest port I've played. But I don't.

Any port had I've played had less compatibility issues, PC adequate menus and more customizable options, better working mp and less **** hype than C2. Incredible but true. So much for definition of "multi-platform develpment"

"Pc version? You got it!" "Amazing A.I" "Not dumbed down at all!" "Cheaters? We'll deal with them!"
-If only even one of these were true, or *at least not the complete opposite*, I'd get at least some of what I thought I was buying, not to mention the game play (tho very much fun) is not Crysis gameplay, but Call of Nanosuit.

They did it so console owners would feel they were getting an equally good game?

Assuming this is retail sales only. Then if you plug the digital sales in calculated by using the percentage of sales that were digital in mid 2010 you get over 29% the same as PS3. Now if thats correct then given that there is more profit in individual PC sales the PC version has been worth more to Crytek than PS3.
