Antivir keeps detecting TR/CRYPT.XPACK Gen TROJAN when I install the game/patch for some reason? Is it a false positive?

Obviously. Not even EA is stupid enough to distribute virused copies of games.

im willing to bet your using avira for your antivirus for some reason avira detects so many false positives its crazy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen

Description:
A generic detection routine designed to detect common family characteristics shared in several variants.

This special detection routine was developed in order to detect unknown variants and will be enhanced continuously.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

meaning its a false positive the installer or patch has some kind of characteristic that can sometimes be found in virus's or trojans.

Hey guys,

Some free antivirus software picks up the Crysis2.exe as a virus, it should go away if you update your definitions. If that still fails, just ensure the executable is signed by Crytek and it should be fine.

AVG free edition seems to be having troubles with this as well. It keeps saying I'm up to date but still marks the exe. as a virus.

EDIT: How do you sign the exe. as you recommended?
