Everyone presumed this was the reason Crytek was staying silent about DX11.. but still, nothing I can't wait to play the game, but going to wait until we get DX11. I didn't buy a new gfx card for nothing.
Only Crytek knows what crytek is up to, I don't even think god knows what they are doing anymore. We can come up with millions of theories on why they are trying to challenge the Vatican for secrecy but only they know.
I think there is no announcements because it is not decided yet. Probably they work / worked on DX11 patch but they have / had technological problems with it.
Man, what really upset me was the configs. JUST ONE? For real, that's not a PC. And the enemy physics too... In Crysis 1 was extremely realist, in Crysis 2 seems like is... wrong. I love get a korean guy and than throw him in the tree, the physics was so realistic! In Crysis 2 the guy just fall weirdly.
Why do people care so much, the only big thing DirectX11 offers over DX9 is tessellation. And that's not going to make any game amazingly better. Just smooth out circles. Even Shader model 5 isn't much of an improvement over 3.
DrVosknocker, you are forgetting the improvements made in DX10 as well.. including speed boosting things like instancing. DX11 is also a multi-threaded API so it will make better use of your hardware as well as things like Shader Model 5. Just go google if you want to find more details.
Don't you think it's weird that an old game like World of Warcraft gets a 20-30% perf boost just by using the DX11 render path?
Crytek have already listed some improvements coming in the DX11 patch: - Deferred lighting (semi-radiosity) - Better bokeh shaders (background blur) - Tesselation - Perf boost
