Nanovison does NOT work

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 9:18 am

Nanovision does NOT work.

Especially when sniping, I zoom on someone actively shooting their gun and they are still grey.

You have to be literally on TOP of someone for them to be orange in nanovision.

It barely works with seeing invisible people either.

There's no indication on how you can upgrade nanovision to work as it did in beta.

Nanovision is now official USELESS...

I havnt played the official release yet so I cant compare it to how it was in the PC demo. I would rather it be useless than overpowered to be honest. Its just one of those features thats broken by concept alone and really conflicts with the stealth aspect of the game.

i think it was a nice balance against stealth because it drained your power and you couldn't abuse it

but now it's just completely gone.

Good, atleast they tried to balance nano-vision. Can't believe they'd put something so cheap in the game in the first place.

It's worthless about 40 meters out but other than that it'll cut right through tree leaves and tell you where the enemies are. it seems like a lot of people forget about it. It's pretty awesome to me.

Thank You, I thought I was the only one . . . just posted a thread on this issue as well as others "Demo MP vs Full Retail MP"
When I played the demo I was pwning bad with nanovision, it was very useful at spotting uncloaked campers on rooftops, buildings etc.
It was balanced because cloaked enemies were still hard to spot from a distance in the demo. Now however is a different story.
Like You said its literally useless, and cloaked camper douchebag whores can now profit from this change. I've lost count how many times I use switch to nanovision and don't see anybody then turn it off and the next thing I know I'm dead because I ran into a cloaked dude 3 feet away that I couldn't see before when he was 12 feet away that I WOULD BE ABLE TO SEE WITHOUT nanovision with my naked eyes had he not been cloaked, its so ****' retarded.

It's what we get from people whining about it "being too powerful" during the beta.

Apparently, how does one not get depressed when living on a planet where douchebags win?
Really, its amazing how I loved the demo MP and almost hate the retail version MP . . . Its truly remarkable how one little change can destroy the balance of a game and make You not like it . . . I want my $60 back, unfortunately Steam doesn't do refunds . . .

This is how nanovision gets balanced? I don't mind but it does seem like a bit much. Now it'll only be used for spotting cloak players in medium range. Otherwise you'll make it hard for yourself to see players at a longer range because instead of showing up as blue they'll show up as grey which doesn't contrast greatly with the white background you see in your nanovisioned visor.

Edit:
I'm okay with this now that I think about it more. Nanovision had no serious drawback to using it during the demo. It increased your awareness through all ranges. Now when you use it it'll only increase your awareness for medium-close range but it'll actually hinder you if you use it for long range.

Even going in modes have their own serious drawbacks so it's not a problem that nanovision now has its own.

It's not a glitch people, level 3 of one of the modules makes you invisible to nanovision. However, they did make invisible people a MUCH lighter blue. I think nanovision is good now because you still need to pay attention and not just have a perfect view of all heat signatures On the map

Nanovision does already have a drawback, it's horrible to shoot while using the vision mode; thus making you the most perceptive pacifist in the game.

and people calling it 'cheat lite' need to grow up. People in this game can become INVISIBLE, if that's not 'cheat lite' then how the **** is thermal imaging?

How was it horrible to shoot when it made the player stand out from the environment so efficiently? Did you mean that it's hard to activate nanovision and shoot at the same time?

They should put it back the way it was BUT to balance it maybe make it drain your energy faster.

A easy way to fix the blance: When cloaked enemy get ONE shoot at any parts ,he will be force into uncloak, and all his energy drain to zero,so he cannot use clock ability or shield ability for a few sec..

Why use nanovision in the first place if you are a better shooter w/out it? Just saying.
And to non-exact-quote from, uh, MW2 i think, "learn what the environment is supposed to look like so you can easily see and 'eliminate' the 'imperfections'"

PS: for slow people: eliminate=kill, and what do you think those 'imperfections' are? Paranormal activity? Shoot it, or do us all a favor and go jump off Skyline.

I thought I was the only one!!!!!!!!!

In the Demo you can use it and see people on the other side of the map though its just barley sometimes you can use it very well to see people behind **** walls like on Pier17 and they are sniping in the boat house.

Now all the sudden in the Full Game its **** worthless!!!!!.

Sorry about the use of vulgar language I realize you folks @ crytek are working on issues like this but it seems like its totally gimped right now.
Having to relay on being lucky enough to spot an invisible player with a higher stealth level is very impossible and nano vision provided that edge to combat those threats though it drained me like my .... well you know.

No I mean it makes their outline slightly bigger than they are, which can cause you to miss, as well as your RDS not working in that vision mode. I imagine ironsights would work, but it's still not a great mode for accuracy. Plus, as the range wasn't unlimited in the PS3 demo, somebody who you can't see could well be shooting at you from all the noise you're making.

In the PS3 demo it was also **** for spotting cloaked players. However, when you consider that using cloak tracker (levelled) ups the visibility of cloaked players substantially, you don't really need nanovision to help with that.

The only problem I could see with it was if it had unlimited range, other than that, phasing out the effect with distance would be far preferable to simply cutting it off at a point where enemies are close enough to see and fight, but not close enough to show up on nanovision :s
