My performance just nose dived?

i5-2500k
5850
4gb ddr3

Okay so I've been playing the singleplayer and multiplayer just fine usually 45-60fps. In fact I was able to run the singleplayer at 1980 resolution on my second screen to show my friend, without it dipping below 45. I normally game at 1680x1050.

but....now i stay below 40 and usually get between 22-28fps...which is unacceptable. I reverted all of my settings back, deleted my autoexec and system.cfg and removed all launch otions but the problem persists. Anyone else have this happen? Wanted to know what's up before I do a full reinstall, which will probably fix it.

Same thing happened to me, on one occasion it's running smoothly at 60fps and above, the other it just gets cut in half. Rebooting the PC helps, but this is a game bug because it's the only one that ever behaved like this on my computer.

I'll just add this here but sometimes I will quit crysis 2 and it will close but when I check task manager it is still running in the background and I have to force end it in task manager.

What i'd do is that for those of you that have 6gbs and + of ram i'd remove the virtual memory (paging file). Cut it down to 0. For me (i got 6gbs of ram) it helped alot in ALL the games i play so... if you guyz want to give it a try and want to know how (if you don't) here it is

Windows 7 [HOW-TO]
1- Right click computer and select properties
2- On the left tab select Advanced system settings
3- In the upper tabs select Advanced
4- In the advanced select Performance settings
5- In the upper tab select Advanced
6- Adjust performance for *Programs* (unless you want background services)
7- Click Change in the virtual memory area
8- Select your main hard drive and select NO PAGING FILE
9- Click SET, click ok when windows tells you that your computer might explode
10- Click ok, then apply, then ok then ok okok ok ok kok and restart :)

Hope this helps the lag/stuttering

Not sure if it was the virtual memory or just a plain memory leak, but I followed those steps and restarted my computer -- got my FPS bacl

I think the max settings have 32xAA enabled. Thats the only reason I could think my gtx 260 could have any slowdowns. And I have em from time to time.

Could be a memory leak tho...
