Fot the people that are asking for DX11

Post » Fri Jun 03, 2011 1:19 am

Please stop. I feel your pain that Crytek decided to cater to consoles only and not even bother trying to outdo themselves, but unfortunately that ship has sailed and it isn’t coming back. If Crytek was serious about implementing DX11, do you really think they would be all cloak and dagger? Wouldn't Nvidia would be putting up 95 different YouTube videos showing Crysis 2 with DX11 on its 580/590 and saying how the extra 2FPS is only possible on an Nvidia card?

Crysis 2 is a good looking game, but yes DX11 could have ended up making look even better. Is DX11 coming, the answer is no. You think Crytom is going to Cevat's house on the weekend or calling his cellphone "Hey Cevat "leet gamer24242” is demanding DX11. Can you come in and throw together a patch so he can stop being so mad? He is threatening to return the game........or worse off SUE US. Legal says he has got a strong case.

You guys that keep asking for DX11 are just setting yourself up for more disappointment and further frustration.

Thats true even if DX11 wasn't finished I'd still expect to see some tech demo's if it was any good.

I think your right. Even if they did it's not going to change the fact that some pot holes are still painted on road lol, or make the levels any larger. We are stuck with a game designed on DX9, that's all there is to it.

With no reponse from any of the 3 companies (CryTek, Nvidia, and EA) on this topic, i think we can safely say this is not going to happen.

Nahh dude. This has been going on since videogames were first invented. Dev promises something, and then they proceed to deny and destroy all evidence of them promising the feature. You think Crytek or any developer would put themselves in a position where they could really get sued by Jimmy Crackcorn because they left a feature out?

Maybe it won't be patched but why should we stop demanding what we want (and what we were told we would get)until we have an official no from Crytek. I'm not taking your word for it and if we stop voicing our opinion then how are they to know what to provide to make their customers happy.

Even if Crytek is planning on releasing DX11 there is now no point in it. Most people have already finished the game by now or are close to it. The changes would probably be so minor that it wouldn't be worth going through the game again just for better quality water or DoF.

I don't really see how DX11 could make the game look much better anyway. It isn't going to change the lower quality character models of C2, or the texture flickering, or the low poly (console) modeling generally present in the game. The depth of field is already nice. They could do some filter effects ala KZ series, or create a richer atmosphere, but I doubt it will be that extensive.

The game looks good enough, and really great in some places for being a DX9 game. Let it go. Let it go.

The only real unfortunate thing about C2 is that the game feels like its in the alpha stages of development and I'm surprised the game was released so early. Don't these people play test their games?????? No excuse for this.. It's a little different for the PC in that games are accustomed to playing unfinished games at release because patches can be released down the road, but C2 is even bad for being a PC game. The game is NOT polished or finished. I just hope next time they take more development time and PLAYTEST their games for bug and glitches before release. All it would take is one single person for **** pay going through the game and saying, 'look here.... this needs to be fixed(flickering texture or AI walking into each other without figuring out how to turn around and walk the other way). It was distracting and took away from my experience.' That's all it would take... They obviously didn't even do that.

I've only played a little bit of the game and decided to wait for future patches to hopefully fix the issues I'm concerned about. Crysis 1 & Warhead set a standard for me personally and maybe I won't get that in the end but I'm going to continue voicing how I feel and what I want until I get it or I get an official NO from them. There's also a pool of issues other than DX11 that can be fixed.

-Prone, Lean
-Advanced Graphic Options
-Access to the cfg files
-Old suit modes

I could go on but my point is, if we're not happy with the game it's our responsibility to advocate for ourselves and represent what we want. How else will they know what kind of a game will satisfy us.

Game runs DirectX 9c but theres a DirectX 10 .dll file in the game folder... On some other forum someone posted he found DirectX 11 files and 64 bit files also after looking a bit further...

Reason they are there from scratch is you can not patch a fully DX9 game to DX10, or a fully 32 bit game to 64 bit... you would have to rewrite the whole game from scratch again.

That means or it has been there and they took it all out because there where serious problems with it, or DirectX 10, DirectX 11 and 64 bit suport is allready prepeared in the game but could no longer fit on the disk, so they desided to implement it into the Patch together with the Bug fixes, naturaly the fixes will take some time so be patient.

Also i sugest to the Topic Starter to talk less cow poop and do a little search on YouTube before making false claims...

Your sister is an idiot. They announced 3 weeks earlier than the game would NOT ship with DX11.

All I've got to say on the subject is crytek needs to get its act together if they want to release another title for the pc or it will fall flat. Else they will be stuck making games for the console crowd. Though they may be happy with that.

The game could probably be modded to be more like Crysis 1, who knows, maybe Crysis 2 will be more like Crysis 1 after the modding community gets to work.

Yeah, unfortunately directx11 isnt going to change the fact that i can't break wooden boxes even if I shoot a rocket at it, and its not going to change the fact that many of the buildings and birds we see in the backdrop are just 2D objects with no texture whatsoever. This game was built on directx9 for consoles, I'm not expecting anything great.

Yeah, I got that too... Everything in the game is static, nothing is dynamic... Only a very few things. It's definitely a step backwards, but hey, I'm glad that the console gamers like Crysis.

I think the game is good how it is using the graphics app. I also believe that crytek is in fact working on finishing the pc version. I have faith that they will not let all the pc fans down. I will start passing judgment after the game has been out a while. The first crysis had 64-bit patched in. Hopefully this will be one of the features added when they finish. That's my 2 cents
